i've always wondered how the rides in the Great Movie Ride and Ellens Energy Adventure work? I mean, they don't look like they are on tracks, and everything moves PERFECTLY in sync...especially in ellens adventure, those HUGE cars...

in the GMR, the trams don't turn in the back until they get to where the front one was...kind of neat too...

this might be a stupid/obvious question, just hope someone out there knows....

Hi mkepcotmgmak:)

From what I know, these attractions move across the floor and use a wireless method to stay on course. Well sorta wireless. There is actually a wire that is embedded in the floor, and the vehicle is communicating and tracking this wire(radio frequency I think?) with a computer to tell just where each of the cars are located at all times, as well as for the cueing of special effects, and other themed elements of the attraction.

Similar technology is employed in some high-tech factory/assembly plant operations where you can see robots or transport/supply vehicles using the wire-in-the-floor technique.

Hope this helps:wave:
