going down november 9th and staying offsite. I have been "home" often in my life and get the oppertunity to do two new things. 1.) Go as a dad and 2.) go with friends who are newbies (26 years old). I know even though ive been there often this trip will be like gonig for the first time.

So what this thread is about is what can i do as someone who has seen most of the world do to really make this trip special for the newbies? my son will only be 20 months so i dont expect him to remember this trip, but rather have a blast while we are there. ive already reserved character breakfasts and lunches, planned our itinerary to make all the night shows possible, and even got into pin trading. what else can i do? I want this to be the greatest trip ever for them.

dont overload

my biggest tip would be to not overload them with disney.. especially the newbies.. sometimes for people who havent been to disney will be easily overwhelmed :) dont know if this helped.. just some advice :p

Hope you have a blast, and your newbies are as into it as you are.

Look at your newbies' personalities. For your friends, how do they get their kicks? If one of your friends is a shopper, get that person in the mood by spending the evening of your arrival at Downtown Disney, for instance, and suggest some Disney gear. If your friends are coaster junkies, start the day with Rockin' Rollercoaster or Everest, etc. Take your movie buffs to MGM or your kid-at-heart to Magic Kingdom. Just try to make their first experience match their interests instead of going with your normal itinerary.

I know I've been a bit disappointed before when my friends/family weren't as starry-eyed as I was. So, keep in mind the possibility that they might not be awestruck. If they want to go back to the hotel for a rest in the afternoon (what!? When there's so much to do?) let them go and meet up later. If they do end up Disney junkies, it's a bonus!

Does your 20 month old watch Disney cartoons? My newphew went at about that age and he loves Mickey Mouse. It's his favorite cartoon. When he saw Mickey for the first time, his eyes just lit up. Thye won't enjoy Disney much at that age (that's why Disney lets them in free) but if they know the characters, it might make for a great moment for you.

I definitely agree with not overloading them. You're going to be so excited that they're finally there but they may not reciprocate your absolute love for Disney in the way you want. Let them go at their own pace and enjoy the vacation their way. Everyone vacations differently, and this is especially true for Disney.

Make sure you get them all their first visit buttons though!! (I loved nothing more than giving a first visit button to an adult while I was working. I was so happy they were finally able to experience the magic!!) :)
