Pre-Trip 2 Broke Guys and..?

Have patience. There are layers. 😆 and a fair amount of details are still up in the air.

What we know for sure so far:

1. We do not have annual passes so far this year. We currently do not have plans to get them right away.

2. My sister and nephew are taking a cruise out of Port Canaveral, along with my sister-in-law and another nephew and niece. This is in mid to late July. It is not a Disney Cruise.

3. Each of those two separate parties also wants to stop at Disney World/in the area, not necessarily at the same time. Neither are staying on property. My sister is renting a nice hotel, my sister-in-law and family are staying for a few days in a different one.

4. I do not believe they have coordinated which park or parks they would like to visit on which day, but I know I will have to go on a Saturday. This would make buying an annual pass pointless.

As far as I know, I am the only one staying on property! Although, I haven’t booked anything yet. I presume Brian is coming along, but who knows? We will have to see what his schedule will allow, and also what we are going to do about the following:

Note: This NOT Kylie.

What do you mean, am I sure? Let’s get a closer look.

Backing up about a week, I was scrolling on Facebook, avoiding work, and came across this post in the group for my local town.

The post caught my eye. I thought she must’ve been some kind of German Shepherd mix.

Brian and I had been discussing adopting a new dog for several months. I thought it best to go in a completely different direction, nothing like our most recent family member, Kylie.

🤷🏻‍♂️

To be honest, I didn’t think this particular photo looked that much like her, but like they could be related. I commented on the post, while most of the other comments were telling the owner to go through a shelter rather than place her themselves. Apparently, there is a real risk of them ending up in dog fights.

After a couple of days of chatting, we went over to visit this pup. We took to each other pretty easily.

Sounds like it was fate. I found my girl Daphne through Facebook too. A friend from high school saw a post about rehoming needed for a mini-schnauzer and she remembered I liked mini-schnauzers so she sent me a message. The picture looked like my schnauzer that I had lost almost a year before, and it seemed like fate to me. Rehoming to these people actually meant selling her, but it was worth it. I hope it works out for you too, what is her name?

The story was: she was nearly 4 years old. Her owner left the house and never came back. The other people living in the house were all cousins and family of the person who left. They already had three dogs and a cat. They loved her, but it was too much.

What was her name? Brace yourselves:

Elsa.

Researching how best to transition between homes, we agreed to return the next night to take her for a walk in her current neighborhood.

Afterwards, the family were a bit astonished when they saw her lay on the floor next to me, and I got down on the floor to meet her, and she put her paw on my hand and stared into my eyes. They decided this was the right move, and they felt better about it. Their young niece was crying a bit, though. She had become attached.

They offered to bring her to our home the next night, so we ended up spending three evenings in a row with these folks, making friends. They brought her bed, stayed for pizza, and went home.

I don’t know if I ever posted a picture of this, but shortly after Kylie passed, someone bought me a very nicely made plush German Shepherd. As I explained to their niece, Lily, before they left: although it didn’t look exactly like her, that plush dog brought me comfort when I was missing Kylie. Now that we would have Elsa, I offered the plush to Lily for when she was missing Elsa. (she is also welcome to come visit.)

Elsa is very easy-going, but I didn’t know what to expect from the early stages of the move. We had experienced severe separation anxiety with Kylie because she had been abandoned at a younger age. I was prepared as much as I could be.

When the family left, she did not cry. She did not seem upset. She also didn’t eat her dinner, but would take treats with no argument. (I had suggested to the family that they feed her first before bringing her over, but they wanted to show me that she would eat anywhere. Note to everyone: listen to Tony. Lol.

I slept on the couch to keep an eye on her. At one point, I wanted a snack. I got up to get some chips and dip, and she followed my every step. When she realized I was not sharing my chips, she walked away without a fuss.

Then I noticed… She was spying!

Hello! I can see you! 🤣🤣🤣

Around 2:30 in the morning, I heard the reassuring crunch of kibble coming from the kitchen. She made a good dent in her dinner.

With Kylie, I used to buy extra Mickey toys so that if one got too gross, we had another. I thought I had an extra one or two, but didn’t find them.

That’s OK. Mickey is for Kylie.

For Elsa?

Duh!
