I am planning our trip (myself and 11 year old son) his first time to Disney World and Florida. He has spring break mar. 24-29 and I work weekends. so I was planning a 5 day trip then. Worried about being super busy, would it be better to change our dates to Feb. 9-14. please give me pros/cons for each week. Thanks for any and all help.

Feb could end up being cold (hey- we from FL think 30 overnight is cold). Spring break can be very busy. If you do March try to get to the parks early each day and get a bunch of rides in by 11-11:30. Then get just plan to slow down and use some fast passes in the afternoon when it gets really crowded.

That time in Feb will be much less crowded, could be cool for waterparks, and should be less expensive. If you book it yourself, check back frequently for discounts. Sign up for the WDW dvd and you could get a pin code. If you use a good travel agent, they will do this for you, as we generally find out about new promotions before the public.

I have been many times. I def recommend going in February. Especially for your childs first time to Disney. It won't be overwhelmingly crowded and hectic. You can go at a good pace and enjoy everything you want to see. Prices are better so you save money. Weather is comfortable. It is the perfect time of year for a trip to the world. Hope you all have a blast.

Many Spring breaks coincide with Easter Sunday, however according to several sites, Easter Sunday isn't until April 20th in 2014. That week and the week after are typically two of the busiest times of the year. We made the mistake of going the week after this year, and even for very experienced visitors, it was crazy. If you do the early and late hours, that week will at least be tolerable. Most of February is no longer a slow time. There are tons of groups coming in Feb. now. People on here were talking about not being able to do anything because of the cheerleader groups. As the time gets closer, you will be able to judge the crowd levels by looking at the park hours on the Disney site. It has never failed, that when I check and the hours are extended in advance, that they were expecting large crowds.
