1st Disney Cruise

I just booked my first cruise on the Wonder. We will be doing the 3 nights at the park followed by the 4 day cruise August 4th -> August 11th. We saved up our money all year (have to have it paid off by June) and we got the Walt Disney Suite on the boat. Does anyone have any comments on the Concierge service on the boat. We usually do the concierge at the resorts and wanted to know what to expect on the cruise. Also, if anyone here is going on the cruise the same time, it would be great to hook up and try to sit at the same tables. We got early seating.

I haven't been fortunate enough to stay Concierge level anywhere - but I have done the Wonder cruise and have to say you are going to love it!!! The entertainment is pure Disney magic - the food is incredible, the kids programs are amazing! Have a great time! I'm jealous! We are doing a non-Disney cruise this year (in addition to a WDW vacation in Dec.) but I'm having a hard time working up the enthusiasm for it. I keep wishing we were going on a Disney cruise instead!!!

The concierge service was nice on the DCL. If you want to request a certain order for your dining rotation you can do that with the concierge service, just do it before you get on the boat. The staff will bring you some sort of platter everyday whether it be a cheese platter, cookies, chocolates....One perk is the option for in-room breakfast, full breakfast, not the normal continental...If you are doing Palo or Vista Spa, try and have some specific times you want to go decided when you arrive and the concierge staff will make it happen. I think they also stock your refrigerator with canned/bottled beverages(non-alcoholic) for no charge and will restock as well..There is a concierge reception with free cocktails/apps one day.

The staff will stop by and make sure that everything is ok and ask if they can do anything........

Welcome to the boards! I have heard people think there is nothing for adults with no kids to do, but only from people that have never been on the cruise. Everyone I know that has been on the cruise loved it, even the people that didn't have children. Ask me again in a couple weeks and I will be able to answer from firsthand experience :D

I can't imagine you having anything but a wonderful time on the cruise, we've done the 7 day and 3 day, with verandah room and a "tom, ________ and harry" room. Damn all you concierge people :p

Kevin,
We saved up for 2 years (and using our Income Tax Checks) to pay for it. We did the same thing when we started staying at Grand FLA. We did Concierge there too. We told ourselves that it would be great to go to WDW and be spoiled rotten. So then we got the platinum pack with all meals and sports incuded. If you can save the money, it is well worth it. For the meals, wehad the most expensive things on the menu every dinner. If you don't use all your meals for the day, they carry over.

Good to know. I myself have too many varied hobbies/interests that cost me enough money as it is :D

I haven't been on the cruise yet, but I ordered the planning DVD and I am really looking forward to it. The plan currently is 2007 or later (once baby PhD is 3 and potty trained.) I hear no swim dipears are alowd on in the pools and it is seems unfair to not let the baby swim. Also child care and activities is inculded for kids 3 and up potty trained.

I would say for people with out kids, if you would go to WDW by yourself, then the cruise would be fine too. For those who would only dream of going to WDW with kids, then you wouldn't enjoy the cruise as much. If you would rather gamble or go to the cassino go on a different cruise. If you are a Disney person or a kid at heart, if you belive in magic, then the Disney cruise if for you.

I don't know if Concierge service would be worth it on the boat since all the food is inculded anyway, I guess it depends on how much more it cost.
