Was cleaning up some things in storage and I found this old WDW pictorial souvenir book from the early 70s... before Epcot, before Space Mountain, when there was just the Polynesian, Contemporary and Fort Wildnerness. I thought I was an old-schooler but this predates my first visit by 15 years! Really great vintage looks at WDW in here... scanned in all the pages at the link.

I have this one and another one that is similar and shows a future project known as EPCOT( on the inside backcover(note sure exactly when that was from 78 or 79?)

Happy to share. I've got another one from Epcot's opening as well... that will be the next project. Vintage WDW shots really are the best.

What's interesting is how resort oriented Walt Disney World was back then with more of an emphasis on enjoying a round of golf, going sailing, enjoying a day by the water, etc...Now you can't even put a finger in the lagoon...

I love collecting those guidebooks! They're a great way to delve into the history of the parks since there still isn't a great comprehensive pictorial history for Walt Disney World like the several there are for Disneyland.

Even though they were official products they just had a much less "perfectly polished" attitude about them than the modern picture books.

I've got one from around the mid-80s. Using what was in the book, and help from Wikipedia, I managed to work out what year it was from.

But at the moment, I can't remember what year it was! I think it was 1987 maybe.

I have quite a few of these that I picked up over the years. The hardbacked ones in the 80's were great, also the EPCOT ones right before and after grand opening. They pop up on ebay all the time.
