But there are plenty of dialects of Spanish.

I worked with folks from Puerto Rico, Spain, Mexico, Venezuala, Columbia, Cuba, Ecuador.

Each one of them has their own words for the same thing. There are even different dialects within each country.

yup.. you should see me trying to speak to my relatives in Cuba and Spain. It's quite fun. I actually speak Puerto Rican (modern) Spanish, Castillean (Spain) Spanish, Catalan (spoken mainly in Northeastern Spain), and a small bit of creole, french, italian, romansch, latin, and portugese.
