Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

Haha, I booked a couple of months ago, after seeing a post from someone who mentioned the prices were likely to just continue going up. We're staying at the Royal Pacific, and I didn't think the prices were bad at all when I booked, especially considering Express Pass, although I'm sure EP won't...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

Hmm, we're booked September 2025, but you have me re-thinking that!

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

I came across a meme a few months ago that referenced the beginning of the pandemic when learning was mostly remote, and parents were complaining that they were now responsible for their child's curriculum and had never been trained for that (hint: they weren't responsible for the curriculum-...

Still waiting. I ordered on January 19. Three people that I work with ordered theirs the same day or within a day and got their test kits within a week.

This is true for me, too. I had started doing grocery pickup before the pandemic, but it obviously became much more of a habit during. It's cheaper and quicker. Cheaper because much less impulse buying, lol.

That's wonderful that your district has enough subs to cover teachers who are out sick. Many districts are not in the same situation. My district is certainly not pressuring us to come to school sick, and we have not had to take a two-week adaptive pause, as numerous districts around us have had...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

As a teacher I can tell you that there are parents sending their students to school with symptoms. I had a student throw up in my class on Wednesday. He tested positive. He told the nurse he'd had a headache since Monday, but his mother had given him Tylenol. This happens over and over. Since...

    Genie+ vs. Lightning Lane confusion?

I don't want to hijack the thread, but wow...so much of this was us. We almost always stayed at Epcot resorts just so we could zip into World Showcase for dinner...even if it was just counter service. Those were the days! (er...wasn't that a song title? :D) And your last paragraph...I have a...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

No, it was primarily a ride-rationing tool because Disney does not have enough capacity.

    Genie+ vs. Lightning Lane confusion?

Wow...all of this! This was my experience as well. Our first trip was in 1996, and we went 10-12 times in the 15 years following. Most of the time as a family (or with extended family), but a couple of times it was just my husband and me. We loved it. Our last trip was in 2011 or 2012, I think...

I wish I could say that had worked in my school district. Obviously, I don't have personal knowledge of every school in our district, but at my building, the same ones who were getting tested when the requirement started a few months ago are still getting tested. It actually seems like they're...

I agree, and I have to say that I'm even more disappointed in Universal (which I love) for only "encouraging" masks.

We were going to go see BW today, but the theater that we were going to go to is in a "substantial transmission" county, and I told my husband I just wasn't sure if I wanted to sit for 2 hours in a theater, even with our masks on (and we're both vaccinated). I don't know...it probably would...

I'm many pages behind currently, but I've been keeping tabs on Illinois where I live, and the yellow is definitely shrinking. Just days ago, the red was almost entirely in the southern and lower central portions of Illinois, but the county where I work just moved to substantial risk a couple of...

Same in my county in Illinois except the percentage of fully vaccinated is hovering around 40%. Unfortunately, there is a big push by many of these people in our state to make masks optional for students when school starts. Unmask Our Children is their motto, and many are going to the school...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Same. There is a large group of parents in my school district pushing for no restrictions (or no difference in restrictions between vaccinated and unvaccinated students), including no masks for any students, and no difference in rules for vaccinated and unvaccinated students, including...

    WDW or Universal this Christmas?

We loved the Royal Pacific and the easy walk to the parks. (but there's also boat service, I believe). The Unlimited passes are a huge bonus. I've never been to Universal at Christmas time, but those benefits would definitely push me to Universal. Ummm...and Butterbeer ice cream!
