News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Agreed. A relatively high number of newer rides have been coasters (Tron, Cosmic Rewind, Slinky, and then 7DMT if you stretch it out). I think it is good to have some presence there for each park but Disney parks will never and should never be put too much emphasis on thrill rides - their...

Is the Boneyard going away for sure? As opposed to (say) a slight retheme to an archaeological dig site

Well, that all depends on what one considers a "C-ticket" or whatnot. But I don't think it's really true. Three Cabelleros is about 7 minutes for example. Littler Mermaid is about 6:30.

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Nah. The ride is too intimate and serene to be a D ticket without drastically changing the concept. The issue with the ride is there's not enough of it. The ride is like removing half the animals from Maharajah Jungle Trek or Gorilla Falls - they'd still be nice animal enclosures remaining to...

Yeah, what is there is well executed, but it needs to be longer to work well. If the ride were another 3 minutes or so of the same degree of quality scenes - ideally with few animatronics as well - it would be vastly improved by just not having the "that's it?" factor where the ride seems to...

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

hmmm. That sounds like a lot better (or at least more coherent) movie to me than what we got.

Hence when he said "tram bridge" - they would use a tram to move guests from parking to the entrance, not expecting them to walk. Seems to me to be more hassle than it is worth though.

Totally agree. I would argue that a small show/walk through in Pandora + an E-ticket in Africa would be the ideal things for that side of the park combined with changing Dinoland to Tropical Americas (which they seem determined to do, even if I have misgivings about losing the presence of...

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

Okay, that jives with most of what I've suspected. So, the way I see it.... Building 1 probably will stay as it is needed for park functioning and trying to put its use somewhere else would be very expensive and disruptive. #2 & 3 are needed for the park somewhere but not specifically at...

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I think your list actually shows the issue with Pandora which needs another attraction (not necessarily a ride) to balance it out. Especially as Pandora is the most isolated of the lands so you can't really zip from there to someplace else and then back there. A show or walk through in Pandora...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

I don't think that's the main complaint, at least it's not one I've seen. I think the big issues are that it is too short ("over before you know it") and "nothing happens" (it's also just watching scenery without much of any story). I do think adding some smaller AAs could help but...

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

At the time when the FOTLK theater was build, insiders were saying a LK dark ride was under consideration for the area. But that seems to have fallen by the wayside. The ride reportedly being planned/built in Paris is apparently a flume ride and the expectation is that they might just put the...

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Fair enough. I guess looking at the map, it seems you could add a LK attraction next to the theater (across from the bathrooms) and also still have room to the south to add a Pandora attraction along the same path but just north of the canteen. So I'm cool with either. I think the argument...

Exactly. a lot of complaints about Play! as well. And JoW is being dumped on too - for various reasons, but among them is that it is a "waste of space" for what it is, such as all the folks who deride it as a "splash pad". People say that WDW needs lesser attractions but certainly do complain...

Interesting. I agree that that area would make sense for an Africa/Lion King attraction. If they are doing something for Pandora though, I would have expecting them to use the designated expansion pad within the land (a bit south of NRJ, currently a parking lot)

Yellow, as mentioned. The red area is preserved land given the types of trees in the area and isn't supposed to be touched (I want to say cypress trees, but I could be completely wrong)

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

Trying to keep this to the DHS thread.... Could someone in the know talk about what each of the backstage buildings are used for in DHS? This is the stuff behind Launch Bay (I know the old Animation offices is attached to that but not sure what exactly those are used for)

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

I'm glad they have come to their senses on this. I can imagine that guest satisfaction surveys have shown that there needs to be more to do in DHS as when one or two rides go down (or need to be renovated), it rapidly becomes miserable.

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

But that's the rub... the removing and relocating the backstage infrastructure behind Animation courtyard is exactly what would benefit the park the most by expanding the footprint of guest areas and helping to connect Animation with RNR (fixing the deadend for Sunset Blvd). If it were DLR and...
