    High Line West Side construction

Similar train cars (with bottoms that open to release contents) are used to transport phosphate, which has been mined in FL since the 1880's, still a stretch, but closer to FL history. Just a thought...

Work Tractor Collides with Monorail Lime

Pretty much what @flynnibus said, they are used for towing troubled monorails & track maintenance/work... Here is a link to a thread with some photos of tractors being used on switch track work, installation of conduit for monorail automation, & towing Monorail Red which had some inverter issued...

Disney to begin providing Braille menus at select theme park restaurants

I remember years ago some McDonald's had the statement "Braille & Picture Menues Available" on the drive-thru menu/window... I always found that odd...

    The Spirited Sixth Sense ...

Yes, this! Steam engines are amazing. @ford91exploder also posted this link on another thread: http://www.sdrm.org/faqs/hostling.html This is, to an extent, part of what the "Magic Behind Our Steam Trains Tour" is about from what I understand, as well as some history of Walt Disney's...

    Automated monorail system update

Like you, the first thing I wondered as soon as I heard Thales was "Why not CityFlo?" In doing some research, I found it interesting that Thales group did the automation for the Las Vegas monorail, another Bombardier Monorail extremely similar to the Mark VI (Innovia 200). Could this be why...

    Automated monorail system update

I agree that it would be difficult... But in a fire I am not sure waiting for emergency service is always an option. From what I've read and seen pictures of from the monorail fire in 1985, guests had to act on their own before emergency crews arrived. I am not sure if the Pilot was helpful...

    Automated monorail system update

In everything I have read, the Pilots title may change to "Attendant" but someone will be on board Disney Monorails for the foreseeable future. Pilot-less monorail systems like Las Vegas and the future São Paulo have emergency walkways so that if a monorail has a major issue (example: fire)...

    Parking got worse (2/8)

I am very happy they are doing something, it just appears that guest safety is being put somewhat at risk. Even something as simple as a digital marquee with the message "Ped Xing next X intersections" or "WATCH FOR PEDS".... And maybe they have done something like this by now, but I did not...

    Parking got worse (2/8)

I would hope not... But the possibility is there, the OP mentioned Frogger... My mind went to a situation locally for me where a woman with a stroller crossed in front of me (Across 4 lanes) at night & I had to stop quickly going 45 when they were 100 feet from a crosswalk (she made it safe)...

    Parking got worse (2/8)

Okay, wasn't the whole idea of "Epcot" or "Progress City" to remove pedestrians from traffic? I know DTD/Disney Springs has nothing to do with Walt's ideas for Epcot, but there are certain things that should be taken into consideration, like parents with strollers running across 6 lanes of...

Monorail system to close during non peak times for maintenance in early 2014

Okay, so here are some photos from Monday of the work being done: Tractor 2, on the switch between the Express and Resort Loop Workers working on the platform under the switch Another view of the tractor The center of the Spur appears to be new (Well, the metal part). New Conduit...

Monorail system to close during non peak times for maintenance in early 2014

Per the pilot who was driving it when it when it failed (he was in "time out" [he said jokingly] watching the Epcot station exit) the compressor(s) that controls the brakes and doors "blew up"... Maintenance cast members were actually working on it on the Epcot spur track with a platform...

    Lines at the FP+ entrances

I always seemed to have issues with the paper tickets... I am pretty sure we are the minority, but my sister and I spent a lot of time at Guest Relations getting new tickets after having to show our IDs to get in to the park... More recently (prior to MBs) they started putting barcodes on the...

    Lines at the FP+ entrances

Yes, you have to scan twice... In my experience, sometimes the second CM will only require one from each party to scan a MB... This varies though...

FastPass+ open to all guests at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot next week

In my (limited) experience, CMs would check every MB\card at the first checkpoint, but only one per party at the second checkpoint... This seems logical to me... I am sure it would be possible to have party member(s) line jump, depending on the ride, but less likely after seeing the CM at...
