Is Disney planning an Egyptian theme park?

Would have to put Minnie in a burqa.

How does Epcot Food & Wine compare to Swan/Dolphin Food & Wine Classic?

All I have is a general sense that the Epcot festival is very crowded, positions and variety are shrinking, and value for the dollar isn't what it used to be -- vs. a general sense that Swan/Dolphin's festival is less crowded, more sophisticated in its offerings, possible more expensive but a...

    Great Movie Ride to Close?

Yeah! And they could name it, I don't know, maybe something like "Sid Cahuenga's One of a Kind" or something.

Trattoria al Forno to replace Kouzzina by Cat Cora on Disney's BoardWalk

Well, speaking as a New Englander of Irish/French extraction, I don't think any of "my people" would have found themselves in the grand seaside resorts back in the day that Yacht and Beach are modeled after. Too expensive, not very welcome, likely filled with Yankee swells.

Trattoria al Forno to replace Kouzzina by Cat Cora on Disney's BoardWalk

You have to eat Napoleonic food with one hand tucked inside your shirt. Messy.

If and When Apple Buys Disney, Will Parks Finally Improve?

If Apple were to buy Disney, would this mean that every 12 months the current version of the Parks would become obsolete?

PHOTOS - Retail MagicBands take prominent position in Walt Disney World shops

Except that the lanyard and card holder were never used for admission. The MB's are. I never said that the purchase of the MB was mandatory, but once it IS bought, people have then paid for that which they use for admission. To me, that sounds like paying for one's admission media.

Getting people to, in effect, pay for their own admission media. Walt weeps.

What was your BEST trip to WDW?

May 2000. The new millennium had just arrived, amazing to see "2000" above Spaceship Earth. The amazing EPCOT Millennium Parade with the Sage of Time and those huge puppets. All the effects working. DAK almost brand new, much high quality and unique merch. Pulled daughter out of 8th grade for...

No Google Earth Street View In WDW Parks?

More precisely, it's the electrostatic interference from the interaction between strollers and spandex.

    Disney on tv thread

I watched the one on the Resort Hotels last night, and was kinda disappointed. A lot of it seemed to be old footage cleverly re-edited. Unless I blinked at the wrong time, I didn't see anything on my favorite resort, Beach Club. They did have some new footage on the special themed rooms at some...

Changes in the "average guest" who visits WDW

I was born in 1946. I don't need to see any of the movies you listed to "know what it was like" -- I lived it, thank you. I was in college in the late 60's and experienced social turmoil first-hand. Movies reflect Hollywood's agendas - monetary and social. And I will continue to maintain that...

Changes in the "average guest" who visits WDW

Actually, in a very real way, ANYTIME prior to 9/11 now seems like the "days of wine and roses," to say nothing of a certain level of innocence.

Disneyland and the lack of Fastpass - I mean +

Went to DL (from Massachusetts) last month. Loved it (weekend crowds and narrow walkways excepted). Loved being able to plan around "classic" FP. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore, much more interesting use of space than in Orlando. Great maintenance. Cars Land was awesome. No regrets...

RUMOR: Disney to charge for extra FP+ after AVATARland and StarWarsLand are built

Still think the FP+ "payment" will be in the form of extra FP+'s attaching to resort hotels - 1 extra for value maybe, 2 for moderate and deluxe, maybe 3 for concierge, and then bumping the rack rate by $10 or so, on top of whatever else they've done to the rack rate by then. Also possible that...

How does the Toy Story midway ride fit DHS?

This. An even bigger question would be why Avatar - whose thin story is really all about special movie effects - is going to Animal Kingdom and NOT DHS. The blue folks, the Nav'i, are intelligent humanoids, not animals.

Animal Kingdom-- How long do you stay?

OK, in the real minority here, but: we take 3 days to do AK. We go slow. Enjoy the animals a lot. Spread out the time with a combination of rides, shows, and backstage tours, including the Wild Africa Trek. Feel far less pressured here than any other park. Savor the theming. Do both walking...

Will Avatar give AK the boost it needs?

This. Avatar was a ho-hum pedestrian story line wrapped up in some reasonably good effects. I dare to say no one went to the movie because they were enthralled by the story (unlike those other fIlms you named). That's why the franchise had no legs and has languished. To the degree that TDO does...

For the first time, I've finally seen the fabled mythical Brazillian Tour Groups

Waiting to read some reports on how the Magic Bands and FP+ work out with various foreign tour groups. That should give rise to some interesting chants.
