What is your Goofiest MK Mistake?

Making a 1998 trip to WDW during the World Cup the Brazil fans were MEGA loud and rude for five days in a row. The sixth day, we noticed the MK was very normal(quiet). I asked a CM why it was so different than the previous days. All she said was France 3, Brazil 0. I didn't know what that...

Why do you think people still go to WDW?

I go to WDW to remember the great times that have been had and to gererate new experiences that I'll never forget. Since 1978, my first trip with my family, I've spent just over a year staying on property including a month long stay at Fort Wilderness hosting family and friends. I schedule a...

    Favourite Quiet Seating Area

A former favorite spot was at the Disney Inn in the 80's. The Golf Resort transitioned to the Disney Inn in February of 1986. Due to a late change of plans I decided to try the Disney Inn not knowing it wasn't a new "resort". The place was much more laid-back and I carried that golf course...

    Favourite Quiet Seating Area

Regardless of the season or temperature, my favorite spot to relax in all of WDW is at Wilderness Lodge. Just above the entry doors is a multi-level area that most guests never visit. Besides access to the deck above the porte cochère, there are several levels with fireplaces comfortable...

Walking Distance - TTC to Contemporary

I came up with 11,500 feet using the shortest walking path I took back in January from TTC to far side of Grand Floridian and from Contemporary to the end of the line past the Magic Kingdom entrance.

    Your Disney Memorabilia

I've kept this bit since 1981. Dad was an Exxon employee and bought for the family of seven. The program only allowed even numbered purchases and many of the spares were traded. I got this "spare" ticket because he knew that I loved amusement/theme parks as much as he did.

    Kidani Village Family Reunion

For Clarity... We were six adults in a two bedroom villa with a standard view. Our mobility issues included one bad knee, a fractured vertebrae and recent pacemaker implant. No one used an ECV or wheelchair. My Middle Sister has a successful bakery in South Louisiana and the Mardi Gras season...

    Kidani Village Family Reunion

My Nephew served in the U.S. Airforce. Part of his training included recovering computer and communication hardware from "secured" "bad guy" locations. Since I had already reconnoitered the position and the contents of the cart, I let him organize our activity because I told him we shouldn't...

WDW Tour c. 1990 — Updated to Imagination

My youngest Sister is in the process of scanning our Mom's 35mm Kodachrome slides. She won't get to the late 70's for quite a while when Mom took dozens of rolls of slides at WDW with her Voigtlander Vito B camera. I hope this thread is still active when the scanning is done. Mom had a creative...

How does Disney Cruise Compare to other Cruise Lines?

DCL is by far the best experience I've ever had at sea period. I've made trips on over a dozen cruise lines over the past 40 years including some that no longer exist. I worked for Carnival for a couple of years when they were upgrading their ship technology in the 90's. It's been a few years...

Memories of your first visit to WDW.

Summer of 1977. Mom, Dad and five kids age 7 to 20 in a Ford LTD Country Squire station wagon pulling a StarCraft pop-up trailer with no air-conditioning. 10 days at Fort Wilderness on Possum Path right against the small scale steam train tracks. Being the oldest son meant helping Dad setup the...

Trying to figure out my post trip state of mind

I experienced the same kind of feelings when I worked for a multi-national company. After spending weeks in the South Pacific and East Asia I would get home and within 24 hours start feeling I wanted to go back to where I just came from. I wouldn't use your term "post vacation depression" but...

Weirdest thing to happen to you in the parks.

During a family trip in July of 1998 the parks were filled with Brazilian guest during the World Cup. My Nephew and I had just exited Carousel of Progress when a summer deluge started and there were quite a few young ladies sitting on the planters out front. Within a few minutes the planters...

    DCL transportation versus private transportation

I've always been a fan using a "town car" service for Disney when flying into Orlando. Whether cruising or the parks, a town car will pick you up and drop you off exactly when and where you want to be. Most recently I used it for a Disney Cruise. Airport pickup to the Wyndham at LBV the day...

    Best time to disembark?

On our August 2012 cruise on the Dream I checked with the room steward the day before and told him our plans were to keep the bags in the room and have a leisurely breakfast then return to the room to get our bags and be off the boat around 9:30. He said that wasn't a problem and sure enough...

    Cruise in August

Cruised a Dream five nighter the first week in August 2012. I guess that "hot" is relative to what you're used too. Even when the boat was docked the sea breeze kept us comfortable. CC was practically perfect with the warm water and I don't think any of us broke a sweat the entire trip.

    Dining on a Cruise

Be aware that Animator's Palate only puts on the "show" the first night you are assigned to that room. Any subsequent seatings do not include the interactive characters or dramatic lighting.
