This is my thinking. For my mid-April trip I'll wait until the last minute - or 5 days prior since I have a room only reservation. Flying Southwest, so that's a small comfort as far as rebooking. The only $$ loss would be a ticket to the new Cirque du Soliel show. 😢

Caring for Giants was excellent. Tried to get Up Close with Rhinos for a trip at the end of October/early November. Booked on both the first two days of it (Nov 1 & 2), but it's only once a day at 11:00 at this point. Or so I was told on the phone. If that's the one you choose, call now.

Tried to book this the first day it was available. Sadly, my vacation ends on Nov 2, so both days were full. Of course, there is only one tour per day - at 11:00 a.m. :( Caring for Giants had several times each day, so hopefully they'll expand Up Close with Rhinos. Soon.

As disneyca mentioned, the Caring for Giants tour is the best way to see the African elephants. You get pretty close and the guides are great with answering questions. Learned a lot about conservation and several programs that help the herds in Africa. Very interesting. Bonus: it's...
