DAS opinion as its almost 6 months in full effect

I guess that's what I should have done. Of course there are many stories that people would go to guest services and get told another story completely different to the last guest service at another park because the rules are constant. Also unless you appear mentally disabled people will assume...

DAS opinion as its almost 6 months in full effect

You're right. I guess those of us with disabilities just feel we've been made helpless once again with a system like this. At least if they trained the CMs to handle it calmly that would help. It's extremely emotionally upsetting for people with disabilities to ask for help only to be told they...

DAS opinion as its almost 6 months in full effect

My family tried talking to a CM on our last trip. When we tried to give them a note explaining my needs, she flipped out saying "I DON'T NEED TO READ THAT!" The CMs were so petrified that someone would even think they read medical records, that they were refusing to read doctors notes. They...

DAS opinion as its almost 6 months in full effect

I think you may not understand what the spectrum means, it means everyone has different levels of ability including empathy. Given how many people on the Autism Spectrum know how it feels to be an outsider, many of them have greater empathy than those who've never faced adversity. Also, many...

DAS opinion as its almost 6 months in full effect

Please read this, and the links they mention. Autism Speaks benefits parents of children with Autism, but not people who actually have Autism. In fact they've ignored people who are Autistic who have criticized them. They also have a history of promoting a cure for Autism which is very...

DAS opinion as its almost 6 months in full effect

Well as someone with a form of Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, I'll tell you how the DAS does more than hurt people's feelings. People with forms of Autism have a hyper-reactive sensory system. This means sudden loud sounds, being touched without being prepared for it, can cause them to experience...

Don't expect to have a magical time using a Electric car

Ok so here's what I've basically learned from this thread: 1. If you're disabled, you need to act like sunshine to everyone, otherwise you'll be seen as burdensome. 2. You should have visible proof of some sort that you are indeed disabled, lest anyone suggest you're cheating. 3. If you...

Don't expect to have a magical time using a Electric car

It's pretty sad when the only thing a person has to attack someone with, is their spelling and grammar issues.:p

I hear ya. Have you heard of the Fat Acceptance movment? You should search it up. You'll find alot of like minded people there, who agree with you that the discrimination against people of size has gone too far.

Don't expect to have a magical time using a Electric car

Here's the difference. We live in a country that is Sizeist, that means prejudiced against people of size. Most things such as finding fashionable clothing, access easily through turnstiles and stuff, are what is called thin privelage. As in, you can get these benifits if you are thin and...

Don't expect to have a magical time using a Electric car

I don't even know anymore. So many people are trying to kick my butt on here for using an EVC to get around the park instead of walking, I really don't care about it anymore. Nobody is paying attention to where I say I'm concerned for people who do need an EVC having to go through all that trouble.

Don't expect to have a magical time using a Electric car

Wow, aren't you full of hate. I know what Munchausen Syndrome is, smart aleck. Nobody seems to want to notice that I said I empathize WITH disabled people who need to use the EVC. Not that I was throwing a temper tantrum cause I was concerned about, me me me. I was upset at the idea that...

Don't expect to have a magical time using a Electric car

I agree with you for the following reasons: 1. It seems hardly anyone in the park knows their capabilites and how to handle them. 2. That it's ok to judge someone who uses an ECV instead of a wheelchair. 3. You pratically need an airhorn to get through the crowds with it.

Don't expect to have a magical time using a Electric car

Yeah, well I guess I should've mentioned I was able to "transfer" or something. Appearantly some people here feel that people able to "transfer" shouldn't be allowed to use ECVs, it should only be for those "truely" disabled.
