News Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

It would make about as much sense thematically as the other decisions they've been rolling out the past few years. Actually, it would probably make a little more sense.

News Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

My husband told me the news a little while ago before I had gotten the chance to see it myself. I had some VERY choice words. I know many people have the knee jerk reaction of "that's it, I'm done with Disney" after announcements like this, and most often it's not entirely true. But it honestly...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Exactly. So what's all this talk about TSI not being more popular? It's not made to be high capacity. It sounds like many people are expecting it to be something it was never meant to be. This whole "if more people visited TSI..." argument falls apart from the jump because it wasn't built to...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Also a millennial here. I started going to WDW at the age of 7. I was scared of anything with a drop (including Pirates) and I absolutely refused to go on Haunted Mansion after my first trip until I was in my teens. But Tom Sawyer Island was a must do for me and my sister every annual trip. We...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Cars and racing isn't how I view the frontier. When I think of frontier, I think of wide open spaces and land waiting to be hiked and explored. Likewise when I think of national parks, I don't think about all terrain vehicles racing through them. I think about the peacefulness of nature, animals...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Depends on if you're a numbers guy or a creative guy. Thank goodness Walt wasn't a numbers guy and built beautiful, imaginative parks that have (so far) stood the test of time. He took big risks and they paid off... usually. But his risk taking made him the household name it is still to this...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Exactly. Disney has seemed to have forgotten about this quote from Walt: "You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway." The Disney parks used to allow kids and adults to dream together in a fantastical version of a reality based grown up world. Not within the...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Yes! I definitely remember Alien Encounter being popular. I was too chicken to do it at the time but loved the concept. But I had absolutely zero interest in Stitch so the redo never thrilled me. And apparently it didn't thrill many others either. But Tomorrowland 94 was absolutely brilliant and...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

If only more people had used Splash Mountain 🤔 Disney doesn't need a reason to replace something. Whether it's considered popular or not, if they feel the need to replace they will. Popularity may play a part to a degree. But it's not the only reason Disney keeps attractions or gives them the axe.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

So here's a crazy thought I've had. Many of us agree that keeping the river along HM to BTM and docking the riverboat would be a decent compromise. Some have said one reason the riverboat isn't popular is because it doesn't take you from point A to point B. So WHAT IF...we keep the lower part of...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

If I may add to your point - some are saying Disney has to leave some expansion pads open for the future. But, it's been 50 years. When exactly do people think Disney will make use of them? My guess is if not now, they never will. And for the very reason you mentioned. Flood management won't get...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Exactly. If they no longer care about the full guest experience, why should we care about giving them our hard earned dollars? After all, Disney trips are a luxury. And if that luxury doesn't give guests the same ROI that it used to, people will take their money elsewhere. I guess the guest ROI...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Might as well. That's pretty much how the riverboat is being treated. Plus, you have to go out of your way to see the train, so therefore it's not really integrated into the park or adding atmosphere right? 🙄 At least according to some people.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I took those photos in Dec 2022, which was the last time I visited MK. Of course I had no idea then that it would likely be the last time I see RoA. Otherwise I would have taken a lot more than those. But I tend to take pics from what I consider interesting perspectives, and often to share on my...

You're absolutely entitled to your opinion that you prefer DL's river. I feel like MK's river does a fine job establishing an atmosphere and it's a shame to lose it.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Do you really think 20 million people use every single other walkway in WDW? This is a very strange argument to me. The boardwalk in question wasn't even original to the park. It was added in the mid 90s to help with guest flow. It wasn't meant to be a main walkway. It's also odd to me that you...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

But Disney was never meant to be just a thrill ride park. It was always meant to have something to offer for everyone. This argument is also flawed in the fact that I remember way back in the 90s when certain attractions were consistently walk ons...Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Small World...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

When was the last time you saw the riverboat float by with only 1-2 people on it? This also opens up a discussion of what constitutes a "popular" attraction? 90 minute waits? Lines spilling out into the walkways? It's no secret that Disney can and does manipulate wait times. That's been an issue...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Exactly. The carpets were a terrible decision and their placement even worse. Not only did it not fit in with anything else surrounding them, they created such an awful bottle neck in that area. It was one of the first thematically terrible decisions in an increasing snowball of terrible decisions.
