Expedition Everest broken track effect removed?

Which would lead one to believe that cost is preventing the Yeti from being fixed, which shouldn't surprise anyone. Do you have any indication of what this refurb may be about and whether or not the option of fixing the Yeti is even still remotely close to being on the table?

Expedition Everest broken track effect removed?

I'm interested in knowing what, if anything, the insiders here on the board have heard about this (apparent) refurb work that is taking place. Are we looking at minor fixes or perhaps something bigger?

Expedition Everest broken track effect removed?

Someone else will have to verify, but I believe there have been reports in the past that suggested the required work could actually be completed during the overnight hours while the ride remained fully operational during the day.

Expedition Everest broken track effect removed?

Have you heard anything to suggest that there may be plans to fix the Yeti as a part of this work?

New NextGen RFID main entrance turnstiles to go live this week

Has anyone seen a video of the new turnstiles from when they were being tested? Can't seem to find one.

Al Lutz: "Management must stop bending over to pick up pennies as dollars fly over their heads"

Hasn't it been reported here and elsewhere, though, that numbers are down across the board? I believe I read that hotel occupancy numbers are especially low. With the vast success that DCA and the entire Disneyland Resort have seen as a result of the overhaul, you would think that those in...

Al Lutz: "Management must stop bending over to pick up pennies as dollars fly over their heads"

But, how many times is he and others who are well-connected going to have to say those things before TDO takes notice? I think that things will finally turn around at some point. I'd like to think, however, that the turning point would happen before it is critical to the survival of the...

Al Lutz: "Management must stop bending over to pick up pennies as dollars fly over their heads"

I would argue, however, that people like Al have the potential to make a much bigger impact than your average fan. Those who are "in the know" here seem to suggest that Al has very well placed sources. The bigger question is: does TDO even care or place any importance on his columns, which are...

Al Lutz: "Management must stop bending over to pick up pennies as dollars fly over their heads"

In Al Lutz's new column today, he seems to mount a case against Avatar, saying that fans shouldn't "let Animal Kingdom become Disney’s Florida Adventure." Perhaps most interesting, however, is his characterization of the current state of WDW and its management team, saying: "The biggest...

Al Lutz: Tom Staggs stepping back and reconsidering many aspects of FLE

I think this is actually good news. Had we not had the Frontierland rumors start swirling recently, I would say otherwise. FLE is just too focused, plain and simple. I think that projects around other areas of the park that we have heard about (and those we haven't) will bring in both more...

Al Lutz: Tom Staggs stepping back and reconsidering many aspects of FLE

From today's article: I'm beginning to wonder if this full-fledged FL expansion will ever fully materialize. I think some in TDO along with Tom are realizing that perhaps many aspects of the expansion are too focused. With the recent rumors swirling about a Frontierland expansion, I think the...

Sentinel writes article on broken yeti!

Eh, if they really wanted to fix it they could. TDO just doesn't want to spend the money to do it. It's been broken for a couple of years now, which is plenty of time to come up with a long term solution. Disney has some of the top engineers in the world; they could fix it if they really...

    Progress at Everest!

So, my question is... why do some say that fully fixing him will require a complete shutdown of the ride for months if they can work on him in the work space? Unless the structural damage far exceeds the actual damage to the animatronic figure itself...

    Progress at Everest!

Interesting... is this work space located directly behind the show space? I would think that if he or the structure he is resting on is as badly damaged as they say it is, it would be sort of difficult to move him anywhere without a struggle.

    Progress at Everest!

I find it very hard to believe that they got him out of the mountain without anyone noticing or leaking it. Perhaps they have disassembled pieces of him, but moving him completely out of the mountain would be a monstrosity of a project.
