How much does the breaking news impact Roy’s overhaul? As far as I’m aware, its just the frame and the new wheels right now.

Roger already has the Liberty Belle’s original bell, why not give it the riverboat’s original whistle? Roger is the perfect locomotive to keep the voice of the Liberty Belle when it’s gone.

Already?!!!! That’s quicker that I thought, and they haven’t even started working on the frame or the boiler yet.

I just figured out that the whistle Roy last used before it left was indeed the original whistle. The sound and the polish kinda fooled me into thinking it was a replica. All they did was replace the whistle bowl at the bottom or whatever the proper term is for that piece.

Yes! It is slightly bigger in width, but the length remains the same compared to its dixon boiler. This was done on purpose to give the Locomotive more power. Personally I like the look because this boiler makes the locomotive look like an early D&RGW before the K classes were built.

2 things! 1…. When is Disney gonna see that us railfans find steam train overhauls interesting? It’s a once in a lifetime experience! 2…. Strasburg can take their time on Roy since the WDWRR could be down in the near future for expansion projects that were just announced.

Until actually details are revealed, all I ask is that they put some actual scenery on the railroad. Trains do fit with the desert theme, so no plain tunnel this time! Railfans WANT SCENERY! It can work, so MAKE IT HAPPEN!

More details on the Beyond Big Thunder Mountain Project will be released soon. The permits that were filed are just for prep work. I will update you railfans on possible closures for the WDWRR and the Rivers of America if info does come out about later this year. For now, we don’t know anything.

I know that, but since those 1st few days it’s only been 2. They usually have 3 train operations during the busiest times of the year (Holiday Season, Spring Break, 4 of July) and we didn’t see that at all in 2023. It only happened 1 time this year, and that was when Roger was testing during...

It makes sense because they’ve been understaffed since it first reopened. Which is also why they haven’t been able to run 3 trains on busy days.

Lilly didn’t have a bell swap

Yes! That’s true. I took my 1st train tour in 2015 and the conductor mentioned that. Roger’s original bronze bell is on the Liberty Bell, and the Liberty Bell’s original brass bell is on Roger.

Roy’s smoke box was originally light grey, but then they painted it black because the paint kept turning into a burnt brown color.

That probably explains why Steve Broggie was at the roundhouse the day the locomotive returned, but it already had paint, just no lettering.

Only time will tell. It is still possible to fix Lilly’s Buckeye. They just need to machine out a new bowl, and replace the valve. It’s up to them if they wanna do that.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe I heard a new buzzer coming from the cab. If that’s so, then Roger is the 1st to have its buzzer replaced.

The biggest reason why I’d prefer the original emerald green over the Tweetsie green. It’s easier to see the difference between the Emerald Green and Lilly’s Hunter Green in person compared to looking at photos and videos on electronics.

I’ve heard that rumor about all the parks with trains that used to be a part of narrow gauge railroad systems, but they’re not. Dollywood owns World War 2 era locomotives but no, they’re not under FRA jurisdiction.
