    Moana 2 (Disney Animation - November 2024)

Well, I'm impressed they were able to get Moana 2 IMAX-optimized in time. But as the article notes, it's definitely going to have to share those screens with two other movies (Gladiator II and Wicked Part One). Perhaps Moana 2 will primarily play matinees (at least after the first weekend or so)?

Where is Something Wicked This Way Comes on D+?

I just thought of this - one of the new Disney+ channels is supposed to just feature "seasonal content". If they don't want a 24/7 Halloween feed next month to be only cheesy preschool and tween shows and movies, they'll have to do some digging for feature-length spooky stuff in the catalog...

Where is Something Wicked This Way Comes on D+?

Now here's something interesting - this movie will actually have a late night airing on Freeform next month as part of the 31 Days of Halloween lineup. I'd like to think this presages it being added to Disney+, but I'm not holding my breath - they really treat their pre-1989 catalog like dirt if...

    Moana 2 (Disney Animation - November 2024)

I'll chalk their not mentioning Alien: Romulus (and the success it's seen in the process of going to theaters) as not exactly being on brand with a discussion of Moana 2. ;) But that is a good point. It is true that post-pandemic height the theatrical windows tended to be pretty short with...

    Moana 2 (Disney Animation - November 2024)

I found this bit of the article rather disingenuous, though I realize it's a puff piece: "After years of the studio relegating several projects to Disney+ or day-and-date releases (meaning to release on multiple platforms at once), Moana 2's pivot feels like a pointed reinvestment in the...

    General Disney Movies/Studios News

Well, they have to have something on offer. (Hocus Pocus 2 and Haunted Mansion have also been confirmed as part of Freeform's 31 Days of Halloween event next month.) The turnaround isn't usually this short, though.

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice today and I think it stands to leg out over the next two months whether or not they do a Halloween-timed digital drop. It's true there are a bunch of straight horror movies coming up, plus the two animated features, but otherwise there's really not much in the way...

    Inside Out 2

Well, at least they timed it better than the Global Phenomenon video Disney released for Wish after its first weekend in release!

News Disneyland Resort seeking performers to portray Isabela and Luisa from Encanto

Exactly. If Wish had been a hit, they would have absolutely fast-tracked Magnifico for Oogie Boogie Bash; like so much of the movie he was engineered to be slotted into the theme parks and otherwise, but that doesn't work if no one sees/likes the movie. (I wonder if Dr. Doofenschmirtz was picked...

News Disneyland Resort seeking performers to portray Isabela and Luisa from Encanto

The only Wish walkaround character at the parks has been Asha.

News Disneyland Resort seeking performers to portray Isabela and Luisa from Encanto

Meanwhile over at the Oogie Boogie Bash, looks like Bruno's absent this year; the new characters are Hades (can't believe he wasn't there before!) and Dr. Doofenschmirtz (from Phineas and Ferb). Looking at the info about the various things to do at the event, there's absolutely nothing related...

    General Disney Movies/Studios News

It looks like a lot of recent Disney releases are due to get their American broadcast premieres this fall with ABC's Wonderful World of Disney slot on Sunday nights starting September 29th with the Little Mermaid remake; Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Haunted Mansion, and and Hocus Pocus...

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

The ShopDisney website currently has a similar blurb on the Wish-specific page, 9 months out from the movie's release! So clearly they haven't met that threshold yet.

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

The footage that's been posted at YouTube this week of the dress rehearsals reveals that it's the first segment of the show after the intro with Mickey and co. (followed by Frozen II, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Moana). (I think it's interesting that, while it was inevitable that not...

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

Yeah, I think Asha would have been made an "honorary" princess had the movie been a hit - even though the filmmakers went to pains saying one of the things that made her "perfectly imperfect" was that she was An Ordinary Person Like You the Viewer - and they sure pushed the merchandise for her...

    Hoppers (Pixar Spring 2026)

I became a lot more interested in this one when I learned that it's from the creator of the very likable We Bare Bears (though he'd done work at Pixar prior to that show, too), even more so with Moynihan in the voice cast (he's the voice of Grizz there, but again has also done Pixar work via the...

Live-Action ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’

I don't put much stock in trailer views at this point - the Wish trailer got tons of views and we all saw what that was worth in the end. ;)

Live-Action ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’

A comment on Bluesky that's stuck with me called it cheap, and I think that's valid no matter what the budget actually is on this. It seems incredibly cramped too, in a way even previous remakes didn't.

New Streaming Prices and Disney+ to Introduce Continuous Playlists in U.S.

Yeah, especially as there are only 4 and it's just going to be the same old stuff as could be pulled up on demand. (And I'd imagine they'd get old fast, especially the Seasonal Content one.) Beyond the lack of original hits at Disney+ -- and even the successes they have had are pretty much...

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

Taking a look at ShopDisney.com, there's been a fresh influx of discounted Wish merchandise if anyone's interested.
