DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

With essentially 2 years and change left for Tropical Americas to hit its 2027 target, and the project having yet to go vertical. Does Disney announce the new 2028 timeline before D23 2026, at D23 2026, or after? 2028 might be a big year for WDW new attractions.

Wait until they show concept art for the Dubai castle but will have no update for US parks.

For sure. The studios portion seemed good and on par if not more. I just don’t think it’s fair telling people it’s their fault for having high expectations for park updates based on this messaging, while also touting in the background the turbocharged expansions and biggest investments in park...

“this year’s Destination D23 event will mark the biggest of its kind yet!” “from August 29 – 31, 2025! D23 Gold Members will be among the first to hear exciting announcements and see sneak peeks from the many worlds of Disney” Yeah shame on people

    News Destination D23 2025

I don’t think people were looking for a major announcement, just updates. Parks and Experiences have been at this event the past few times for announcements and updates. They could have just saved the free event they hosted last week that had many updates, and done that in a 30 min session at...

Man they are still so early on in the creative process. Me thinks Josh’s nose grew a little when he told everyone last summer all these projects were not bluesky.

4 in MK, 3 in AK, 3 In HS( if you count Animation Courtyard) Yeah, almost a new park. If those are all built as expansions, the cost to operate each park goes up more than if they replace attractions. Yes price increases will go up no matter what, everything does, but it would go up higher and...

Right, but they’re adding almost a new park full of attractions to WDW.

While this is true and I would like to see more expansion without replacement, like Villains land. They can’t just add all the time without subtracting. Ticket prices are already expensive, and would be much more expensive if they kept adding without subtracting attractions.

I would be calling for a refund from d23 after them pumping up this years event as the biggest ever. Very misleading. Something is up.

Can’t help but speculate if there is budget cuts and changing of plans from tarrifs et al. Disney doesn’t want to update everyone cause plans are being changed, not necessarily cancelled, but changed.

Oof. Not a great look for D23 when most were expecting at least some announcements or updates to experiences. Wasn’t expecting anything groundbreaking, but this has got to be very disappointing to most. Glad I skipped. .

I hope it’s delayed. If they finish in two years when they haven’t even started building up yet, the ride and land will be very mid I’m afraid.

News Disney plans to accelerate Parks investment to $60 billion over 10 years

I never carry cash on me anymore. I put everything on my visa when I go to Disney, or do just about everything nowadays, and pay it off almost immediately when I get home to take advantage of its points system which pays for my flight every time we travel. I’m pretty sure a lot of people do the...

Bob also just said a couple days ago that if tariffs cause the prices of things like steel to go up, it may force their hand to scale back. He was specifically referencing to new cruise ships, but I’m confident park expansion is not immune to this line of thinking.

We have precedent. They did this to the Epcot transformation during Covid.

Agree. The upcoming slowdown will at the very least cause budget cuts to planned projects, or cuts/delays to the projects themselves. Fans won’t be happy. Universal is in a good position. Already paid for their new park which is about to open, they can delay announcing expansions in epic and no...
