Correct! The 70s and 80s were a bad time for Disney. So, they changed course, got back to what made Disney animation the gold standard, and the Renaissance was born. What they didn’t do was keep plowing ahead in the same direction hoping for audiences to change.

I just don’t agree. I stayed at the GF in November at BPK. The rooms were beautifully done. Classy with just the right touches of “Disney”. The lobby/common area was also tastefully done. If they follow that general model, the main lobby should be an improvement.

Guys. The grand Floridian updates have been going great. I know it’s fun to poo on everything, but the room remodels at the GF are fantastic, along with the lobbies of the outer buildings. I don’t have any reason to doubt the main lobby will also be wonderful.

In itself it probably didn’t. I agree. However, as part of a larger whole, it just reinforces the perception of TWDC in 2022. Which is the real issue.

This project is literally taking forever. It’s crazy they have left Epcot looking this way, for this long. Whilst building nothing of real consequence. I went twice in 2022 and both times I was floored by what a mess Future World was.

This response, and the post it’s in response to, are far more “intolerant” than almost anything I’ve read here. Odd that.

For anyone wondering. This is Disneys reputation now. They are a punchline.

The movies would have done better if they were better. But instead of making good movies. Disney is making bad ones that have inclusivity as their top line marketing point.

I agree! I hate to go back to my Modern Family example, but it really is on the nose. Diversity is no barrier to good story telling. At Disney, diversity trumps story telling. This is the issue. The keep putting out “entertainment” that’s only diverse and inclusive. Not good.

Do you believe Encanto to be a rousing success? How do we quantify well received? I don’t think it’s very productive to hide our heads in the sand here. If you think “representation” trumps story telling, that is fine for you to believe. I won’t argue with you.
