Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

My thoughts on the whole "is Dr. Facilier being banned?" discussion is that Disney knows he is a popular villain, and has continued to use him in the parks and in merchandise. I've never seen evidence that Disney has mandated the character be scrubbed from the company. HOWEVER, they also know...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

It's a flume ride. That comes with the territory.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I do think the Disneyland version of TBA works much better than the Magic Kingdom version, as the fast pace of the flume enhances the "it's a party!" vibe, whereas the slower pace of the flume in the Magic Kingdom version gives audiences more time to reflect on how nonsensical the story is.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Kids survived the suspenseful nature of the original Splash Mountain lift hill for more than 30 years. Overcoming the fear gave it a "rite of passage" aspect that I think TBA (in its current form) is lacking. I think if they added Facilier (or any type of alternative suspense) to the ride, the...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Don't pull me into your feud, I'm innocent, lol. Anyway I do hope Facilier gets added into the ride eventually. I think Tiana's Bayou Adventure is wasted potential in that the animatronics, music and atmosphere of the ride are great, but the Disney Jr.-esque story and lack of tension severely...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I believe the people specifically working on TBA Adventure wanted to avoid using Facilier (as the whole aim of TBA was to be as inoffensive and uncontroversial as possible following Splash's closure), but that the Disney company as a whole has never abandoned him.

MK Villains Land Announced for Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom

I think Disney announced the villains land well before they had a solid idea of what the actual plan was. I think the concept was greenlit, but they are still ironing out the overall details.

    Hexed (WDAS - 2026)

It seems like a blend of The Owl House, Halloweentown (the Disney channel movies with Debbie Reynolds) and Harry Potter. That's why I mentioned earlier, that the execution is crucial. The premise seems very "been there, done that" but maybe with good writing and execution, it can still work...

    Hexed (WDAS - 2026)

I think it all depends on the execution. The premise itself doesn't seem exciting, but we shall see how it turns out.

MK Big Thunder Mountain to receive full retrack

I think this is a cool change tbh. Will we actually get the scary bats, or is that likely just a concept art touch?

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Very happy for Weapons. Freakier Friday's opening is respectable. Personally I thought Freakier Friday was okay, not nearly as good as the 2003 film. Lindsay Lohan and Jaime Lee Curtis are great, but because the sequel involves a body swap with four characters instead of two, I think it gets...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I think the success of Freakier Friday bodes well for the planned Princess Diaries 3 film in the works, as they target similar demographics. Glad to see Weapons doing well though, that movie was great. Scared the crap out of me, lol.

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

The problem is, sending things straight to streaming or the internet isn't profitable enough. Audiences have this weird thing going on where they don't want to pay to see something in a theater, and yet they also are unlikely to spend $20-30 to buy or rent it on streaming if they know it's...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

More people should get AMC A-list. For about $25 a month, I can see up to four movies a week in theaters, even in premium screens like IMAX and Dolby. Last year I saw about 60 movies in theaters.

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Thor 4 could have been great. Gorr the God Butcher and the Jane Foster cancer/Mighty Thor arc both had potential, but were squandered by the ridiculous comedic tone (it felt more like a parody of a Thor movie than an actual Thor movie).

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I think Fantastic Four suffers the John Carter problem where the derivative works it inspired made it to movies before it could. The Incredibles borrowed heavily from Fantastic Four (and did it a bit better TBH) and made it to the big screen before any of the Fantastic Four movies did. Even...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I think Fantastic Four is just suffering from a damaged Marvel brand. Too many mediocre or bad movies and TV shows have come out in the past 5 years. Black Widow was seen as mediocre and Eternals and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness were — at best — divisive. Meanwhile, Thor: Love...

Iger announces plans for Zootopia 2, Frozen 3, and Toy Story 5

We don't need one, but there's a nonzero chance of it happening.

Iger announces plans for Zootopia 2, Frozen 3, and Toy Story 5

IDK, their interactions are in a gray area where it's hard to tell if it's intended to just be friendly banter or if they are flirting. I wouldn't be surprised if they become a couple by the end of the sequel. The first movie was all about racism, so it seems like a natural extension to have...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I thought Fantastic Four was a solid movie, but not as good as either Thunderbolts or Superman. I loved the cast, the tone, the production design, the cinematography, the sincere approach and the retro-futuristic world of the movie. I even thought Galactus was pulled off rather well and didn't...
