Walt Disney World Holiday Season 2024

WDW has done a lot in the past decade that I have strongly disagreed with and not liked. But they still dominate the industry as far as operating rides and attractions with efficiency. No other park or operator can even come close. The throughput of WDW rides and attractions is untouchable...

    Hurricane Milton coming to FL

When I was a Cast Member I joined the ride out crew each year. I never had to do it (I was a CM in those glorious years in the late 2000s and early 2010s when Central FL went almost a decade without a storm) but I remember when I signed up each year they made it very clear that any...

They've never done that before. Why would they now?

    Hurricane Milton coming to FL

I'm not sure why everyone thinks they would close 24 if not 48 hours prior to landfall. That has never been protocol. Nothing they are doing (or not doing) is anything different than the way it's done every time.

I know. But if I can get out to avoid said possible tornadoes and power outages it's something I'm willing to do.

    Hurricane Milton coming to FL

I have lived in the Orlando area for 16 years and have never prepped for a storm, never worried about a storm and never given any hurricane much thought. (Disclaimer: I was not yet here in 2004 for Charley). Friends, co-workers and I have all done the day before the storm day of walk-ons at...

    Hurricane Milton coming to FL

I assume it is because if it slows down and they can do a half day Wednesday they don't want to take that option off the table. I have no doubt that those that need to know, know. But you don't want to call it until the 11th hour because you can't take it back.

    Hurricane Milton coming to FL

Not if they are arriving because it's safer than where they left

They'll open. They aren't going to let water in some buildings keep them closed.

    Hurricane Milton coming to FL

My prediction with the current track is normal operations on Tuesday, parks closed Wednesday, reopen Thursday as possible

    Hurricane Helene (2024)

They have been much more willing to close/modify park hours since the four month pandemic shutdown. If they still are opting to stay open I think it'll be okay.

    Hurricane Helene (2024)

Because based on the forecast models for Central Florida it's likely not going to be necessary.

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

This is what my leaders would do when the area leaders were pushing efficiency. A minute or two before the end of the hour they'd ask us coordinators to "add 200" or "add 75" or once "add 372" to the hourly count and poof! We'd "hit our numbers" for the hour! Nevermind that certain attractions...

News Tropical Storm Debby Possible Impacts to WDW

Am I the only Central Floridian that has never "taken cover" during a storm?

General Magic Kingdom News and Updates

They did close for an unheard of and unprecedented four months in 2020. Yes, there was a pandemic. But I truly thought they would have taken what will more than likely be a truly once in a lifetime opportunity to have an extended closure of the parks to attend to things like this.
