MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

After the giant Epcot overhaul, it's hard to see them bulldozing that entire side anytime soon. Gotta think The Land is safe given Sorin', GG, and the greenhouses in Living With The Land in use. Also, if anyone still cares about classic Epcot (doubtful I know), Living is one of the dwindling...

MK Tiana’s Bayou Adventure SPOILER Thread

I'll give them credit for a good/immersive finale scene after a non-adventurous, boring, souless, sparse attraction, which is perplexing considering the strong film and soundtrack they had to work with. However, the finale, even with its solid original song, has to be compared with the...

News Cost Cutting Measures Coming Early 2025

Yes - but you are taking a measured long term view. They are looking at juicing the next quarter's earnings report and maybe one beyond for their own incentives. The cuts can definitely have a positive impact on near term profitability and margins. Executives are less concerned about long...

DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I like it better than most but the reception from fans online and just anecdotally from people I've taked to (which is quite a few since I talk about Disney Parks too much) is mixed at best. Peter Pan, Snow White, and other dark rides were all C tickets during those days and were far more...

DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I do like the immersiveness and also find it more reridable in some ways than FOP. For me, if not for the budget cuts, it could have been a top tier attraction. It just feels a bit too condensed IMO. What they would have done with the proposed drop and extra ride time would have been interesting.

News Disney Lakeshore Lodge (Project 89 - Development near Fort Wilderness)

I don't agree with trapped - but the monorail resorts are in the premium MK location. Riv location may not be horrible, but it's not a go to for anything. If you want Springs, it's Saratoga - if you want Epcot/HS, it's cresent lake. Monorail resorts also have easy access to each other - all...

DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

It might actually be perfect for that mix - enough thrill for kids that young, but not overly intense. I'd put it a little above mine train b/c of the height and a couple of the turns, but definatley below the intensity level of big thunder.

Bay Lake Tower year-long room refurbishment dates

I'm ok with this - no shoehorned IP, clean update with nods to classic Tomorrowland/Contemporary. I don't have high hopes for full scale theming with DVC, as evidenced by the Maui Hilton now standing next to the Poly longhouses - but on their current scale, I'm am not disappointed and happy...

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

an exaggeration to make a point on the importance of gym in a disney resort, not an insult - guess you decided to take it at face value and it went over your head - and then started in on the insults instead which was a very insightful point (hint - don't take that at face value)

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

Wow, never knew gym rats were so soft and defensive......Yes - we all have different opinions - and it's ok to state them without insulting people. I re-state, when logging 15k steps a day, a morning on the stair climber wouldn't be my priority - and if it's yours, god bless you - I suppose...

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

Hey! I was exaggerating to make a point on how gym time seems like a weird priority on a Disney trip....but I hope you feel so much better about yourself now that you put me down!

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

I've stayed in various Disney hotels 20+ times and never used or even looked for a gym. I think I may recall seeing one in the 'hidden' Contemporary floor where the hair salon used to be. I do my best to work out in real life, but with the incredible amount of walking, constraints on time...

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

Agree that a full Cook's style quick service may be tough, but a smallish poolside location like BLT or Beachclub pull off seems doable to me, especially with the crowd gathering around the pool.

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

I don't know about the logistics, but an expanded pool with slide a bar/quick food option (as with BLT), include Dole Whip, could have been useful to keep some stress off the main pool and ceremonial house. You can put the pool and bar behind key/band access to limit resort hopping motivation...

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

Folks are saying that the Great Ceremonial House has been way overcrowded with people, including Captain Cooks, Pineapple Lanai, etc. I hope it's just the opening week boom, but the tower could put a big stress on these options w/o it's own quick service and shops. Not looking forward to the...

For me, this guy says it perfectly, both in his post and his own comment referring to the new poly tower (and I swear it's not me) - .

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

agree - that picture is a bit serpent-y - but the darker tone of the image and the richer woods seem less 'modern hotel vibe' vs the lobby colors they used. I much prefer the darker b/c it evokes the classic lobby (but maybe I'm just a sucker for that).

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

Definitely not a disaster on the inside IMO. Although I like the size/height of the lobby, it may be my least favorite part of the interior. I wish they went with more of the darker tones they seemed to have used in the viewing gardens -

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

I look forward to seeing it in person. Seems like it will feel pleasantly themed, in the way that a big chain hotel would design their location that happens to be in a luxury tropical area - not uniquely/immersively themed like Disney used to be capable of. Call me sappy but I like a little of...

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

I'd agree with much of this - and lament the current disjointed theming....but still see it as vastly unique experience vs a standard hotel like a Marriott.
