MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

The ironic thing is, I’ve seen some absolutely ridiculous takes on these forums—ones that made me audibly laugh. But none have been as absurd as what has actually transpired at the Magic Kingdom.

Don't worry, Disneyland's Rivers of America + Tom Sawyer Island will eventually be paved over as well. Some of you may have a knee jerk "no way" reaction. Yes, way. 100%. That park needs that space better utilized way more than MK's does. I'm actually surprised it wasn't the first one to go.

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

It’s a sad day, no doubt — though it’s hard to argue there aren’t valid reasons behind it. Still, I deeply miss the charm and whimsy that once defined evenings at the Magic Kingdom 20+ years ago. This marks yet another piece of that era fading into history. Today’s audience demands more...

Forbes: Disney Facing Furious Backlash Over $17 Billion Theme Park Investments

I don't think you're giving enough credit to the "average guest." And Disney doesn't really care to shape their parks around new/transient guest feedback. For example, Disney Enchantment had super high scores among folks who never saw Happily Ever After and they still decided to bring it back...

Forbes: Disney Facing Furious Backlash Over $17 Billion Theme Park Investments

I'd actually be surprised to see them keep the riverboat. I think the most likely scenario is a much larger artificial stream/river along Frontierland. Most people seem to be upset about the aesthetics along that corridor being compromised and they're not wrong. It's going to look horrible.

Forbes: Disney Facing Furious Backlash Over $17 Billion Theme Park Investments

Again, I am not talking about just "online channels." I am talking about the channels that Disney collects the vast majority of their guest feedback through. And no one said the project would be cancelled. But "zero chance the project is retooled in any significant way" though? Haha, we'll see...
  7. Disney Glimpses

Forbes: Disney Facing Furious Backlash Over $17 Billion Theme Park Investments

You don't know what you are talking about, sorry. Most people close to the parks do know about the project and as I said, I know people who said that feedback inbounds from their online channels are at unprecedented levels because of it.
  8. Disney Glimpses

Forbes: Disney Facing Furious Backlash Over $17 Billion Theme Park Investments

Well, that seals the deal. Stripes friends don't like it so that's all the proof I need. While you have a single anecdote to prove that this project isn't that big of a deal, the reality is that the negativity around this project isn't just in echo chambers online; it's everywhere. Wait, you...

They do look like they were written by AI lol
  10. Disney Glimpses

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Right, exactly. Like, Caroline Reid might routinely write pieces like this, but it doesn't change the fact that this project is wildly unpopular for the stated reasons.
  11. Disney Glimpses

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

This might be true but 99% of people reading it don't know that. And that's what the issue is, from Disney's perspective. All they will see is Disney ripping out a gorgeous natural landscape from their most attended park to put in a cartoon Cars ride.
  12. Disney Glimpses

Forbes: Disney Facing Furious Backlash Over $17 Billion Theme Park Investments

Eh, that's not how they measure success or decide to proceed or plan projects. Everything they do has long lines; doesn't mean it's the right long-term decision.
  13. Disney Glimpses

Forbes: Disney Facing Furious Backlash Over $17 Billion Theme Park Investments

And you expect they'd say something different? Like, are we really gaslighting that this project is the least bit popular? Especially among locals? 😂 It honestly sounds like you are in favor of the project and injecting that into these opinions you are forming; which is a little hypocritical...
  14. Disney Glimpses

Forbes: Disney Facing Furious Backlash Over $17 Billion Theme Park Investments

Because I know many people at the company and it's well known how unpopular it is. Inbounds about it are at unprecedented levels. This really is not a controversial topic.
  15. Disney Glimpses

Forbes: Disney Facing Furious Backlash Over $17 Billion Theme Park Investments

Where is the discourse on this subject matter supposed to come from?
  16. Disney Glimpses

Forbes: Disney Facing Furious Backlash Over $17 Billion Theme Park Investments

I mean, this project is wildly unpopular. The notion that only "ragebait twitter accounts, super fans or clickbait accounts" are against this is pretty silly. Heck, the project isn't even popular within Disney.
  17. Disney Glimpses

Forbes: Disney Facing Furious Backlash Over $17 Billion Theme Park Investments

I still say there's enough cumulatively to make them slightly rethink the aesthetics along Frontierland.
  18. Disney Glimpses

Forbes: Disney Facing Furious Backlash Over $17 Billion Theme Park Investments

I actually completely disagree. Not just this article but the feedback from guests, former Imagineers and now MSM is unprecedented across the board. While I don't think the project will be cancelled, I do expect major changes to the southern portion of the attraction. And they'll pretend it was...
  19. Disney Glimpses

Forbes: Disney Facing Furious Backlash Over $17 Billion Theme Park Investments

Highly unusual for a project that has no external motivating factors (e.g. Splash Mountain). I am not aware of another thesis written by a mainstream news outlet in regards to why Imagineering decisions are bad.
