Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

So working with Chat GPT I came up with a new pitch to “test the waters” on this Dr. Facilier idea… Concept: “Dr. Facilier’s Spirited Splashdown” – A Seasonal Overlay for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Inspired by the success of Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark, this limited-time...

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Truest comment on here. RoA was simply not a positive revenue generator and I can venture to guess its existence negatively impacted multiple KPIs for the WDW resort/TDO specifically (Lightning Lane sales, merchandise sales, contemporary brand IP synergies/marketability, operations, advancing...

News Coco Boat Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure

The irony is of all the themes they’re cramming in this park, this one actually fits. Certainly better than Avatar, Marvel, or most other Pixar properties (sans Cars/Route 66). But even just overall.

News Avatar Experience coming to Disneyland Resort

While not a true dark ride I believe this is partially the intent of bringing CoCo to Pixar Pier to “make up for” the loss of MI as DCA’s Small World/Sinbad equivalent charming dark ride. With the other flume ride at Avatar being the more “thrilling” flume experience a la Shanghai Pirates.

Back to The Future seems like a logical choice.

    All things Magic Mountain

Replace Riddler with Log Jammer and you have my all time top 3. I don’t mind the B&Ms just feel a derivative after a while. Gold Rusher, Viper, and even grand circle touring the metro were fun, too. Heck I even miss the old Batman and Robin stunt show and Looney Tunes Discount electric parade...

News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

It looks like the light fixture is attempting to pull a Homer Simpson and bury itself into the structure from embarrassment.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I said 6.5/10 earlier in the thread which is probably a drop from a 9.5 or 9/10 for Splash (in its heyday vs closing condition). I don’t think the ride is even near in my top 20 anymore at the resort.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Had it been changed 5 years after the original film came out in 2014 vs in 2024 I honestly think we might have had a different and more appealing result. That said, I own that in its current form even a decaying Splash Mountain is much preferred to what is there now.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Finally went on TBA yesterday with a friend. I’d say neither of us were Tiana haters, as I long defended the decision to change this ride over as SoTS was a dated film that did not appeal to modern audiences and the core were there for a talented team of Imagineers to create a new well-rounded...

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

While I don’t agree with all of your reasoning I agree with enough of your conclusion that I do think it makes sense for local parks in California to draw on some aspects of nostalgia given the attendance mix of locals-tourists. For better or worse: The theme park market generally from it (and...

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Different strokes for different folks. As a west coaster I’m genuinely happy so many WDW fans are happy with this direction and hope the company sees this as a green light to continue their creative experimentations on the east coast. I agree and think that maybe if TWDC learns anything from...

MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Interesting. Which specific transitions would you say are more abrupt at Disneyland compared to Magic Kingdom? I’ll agree on the castle. That is definitely a point for MK.

    News Reimagined Toontown coming

Part of me wishes we had Ducktails as a third dark ride in an expanded Toontown that wrapped around to the other side of Fantayland/Frontierland and a perhaps truncated Galaxy’s Edge with only Rise and without Smuggler’s Run.

Ultimately it’s just a good ride with a very good theme that combines dark ride and thrill elements. It is one of the best areas in all of DCA overall. Hopefully the new ride brings the same level of kinetics to WDW with added water features to compensate for the loss of RoA.

MK Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

It’s only a problem because there’s fewer LLs being sold. I’m guessing that can be solved by putting another ride back on ILL and finding more rides to monetize.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

From what I can tell there isn’t another new major “ride” opening until 2027 at the earliest. This isn’t a matter of time it’s a matter of shattered egos and lack of fortitude to read the proverbial room and make a necessary pivot. No one in the fan community is pressing them to their...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Appropriate color scheme since if it’s anything like WDW’s it’ll serve as a warning to the public to yield ⚠️ since it’ll be closed 70% of the day.

But arguably isn’t that the problem with tying everything to a specific IP vs an evergreen set of thematic principles/settings in the first place? That eventually it “ages out” and becomes no longer relevant.
