News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

While I don’t agree with all of your reasoning I agree with enough of your conclusion that I do think it makes sense for local parks in California to draw on some aspects of nostalgia given the attendance mix of locals-tourists. For better or worse: The theme park market generally from it (and...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Different strokes for different folks. As a west coaster I’m genuinely happy so many WDW fans are happy with this direction and hope the company sees this as a green light to continue their creative experimentations on the east coast. I agree and think that maybe if TWDC learns anything from...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Interesting. Which specific transitions would you say are more abrupt at Disneyland compared to Magic Kingdom? I’ll agree on the castle. That is definitely a point for MK.

    News Reimagined Toontown coming

Part of me wishes we had Ducktails as a third dark ride in an expanded Toontown that wrapped around to the other side of Fantayland/Frontierland and a perhaps truncated Galaxy’s Edge with only Rise and without Smuggler’s Run.

Ultimately it’s just a good ride with a very good theme that combines dark ride and thrill elements. It is one of the best areas in all of DCA overall. Hopefully the new ride brings the same level of kinetics to WDW with added water features to compensate for the loss of RoA.

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

It’s only a problem because there’s fewer LLs being sold. I’m guessing that can be solved by putting another ride back on ILL and finding more rides to monetize.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

From what I can tell there isn’t another new major “ride” opening until 2027 at the earliest. This isn’t a matter of time it’s a matter of shattered egos and lack of fortitude to read the proverbial room and make a necessary pivot. No one in the fan community is pressing them to their...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Appropriate color scheme since if it’s anything like WDW’s it’ll serve as a warning to the public to yield ⚠️ since it’ll be closed 70% of the day.

But arguably isn’t that the problem with tying everything to a specific IP vs an evergreen set of thematic principles/settings in the first place? That eventually it “ages out” and becomes no longer relevant.

I’ll give it to Disney… at least all these recent changes have made the discourse in these forums more entertaining. If nothing else…

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

The Chew Chew train was cute but it was also extremely short. Like the length of a glorified shopping mall kiddie train short. It’s too bad it wasn’t plussed up to be the equivalent of Casey Jr.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

100% agree on losing red car trolly. It’s another nail in the coffin on losing the DCA theme. And it’s a shame because the park made meaningful progress after 2012. While I don’t mind having MBO, I’ve always said I’m envious that MK still has CoP, People Mover, and Country Bears (even the new...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Have you seen Flik’s Fun Fair in comparison to RoA? We’re talking about off the shelf Zamperla carnival spinners here, which while more semi-artfully themed weren’t even opening day attractions that were added during Eisner’s austerity era to boost DCA’s “family ride” count. Not saying AC in its...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I’d also argue that MMRR is a good attraction in the wrong place (even if it is in the right park). If it went to animation courtyard, no problem. Replacing the thesis statement for DHS - not so much.

Rumor Tokyo Disneyland Splash Mountain Retheme Discussion

Runawaway Railway replaced the thesis statement for the entire park. As a standalone ride it’s decent if there’s enough space for it.

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

This is very true, I think the company views WDW as “capped out” which is extremely odd given the “blessing of size”. In addition to making sure the daily guest spending metrics go up - I predict part of the problem may be the average vacation time most Americans have as well and making sure...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

It’s very simple - if a new addition adds guest usable acreage to the park then it’s an addition. If it replaced an existing attraction that was used by guests that is a replacement but not an “addition” in the traditional sense even if it may have additive benefits in terms of revenue...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I think they’ve been slow to adapt because they’re worried about attracting “top talent” in Hollywood. I definitely think budgets should be slashed but for a long time D+ and most streaming services were perceived as loss leaders. That time has passed a the purse strings are tightening albeit...

News Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

It’s the business model… for the Parks segment they need to show increased growth in per person spending to demonstrate “sound financial health” to investors. This is particularly true in Florida where other key metrics - in terms of overall attendance, deluxe room sales, DVCs, etc, are...
