New Tomorrowland. Is this the year it finally gets announced?

Kinda/sorta. That music loop was written/recorded for Disneyland some 30 years ago as part of a new Tomorrowland project called Tomorrowland 2055. That project never happened but the music loop was added to the Space Mountain Concourse area around 1996. Where exactly it plays has been adjusted...

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Why wouldn't the newly freed up LL slots just get eaten up by the remaining DAS users? If Standby waits actually decrease, the advantage that the super commando DAS users have would also increase.

You mean the people that said no until it went to a manager who said yes?

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

But Disney has a team of lawyers and they've already determined that they cannot collect medical information... so ... right? And to be fair.... this is fine for me. As long as Disney still has an option to override their own rules and issue DAS as needed (which has been the defacto policy for...

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

But Disney assessed the situation and issued her a DAS anyway. And since Disney is in the best position to know what's right... we have to respect that ..... right?

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

If it's not abuse and it's legally mandated, it doesn't matter at all that it's "too much." Waiting in a short line is not a right. Disability accommodation is.

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Maybe if I type slower.... Proof that a lot of people are utilizing DAS is not proof of abuse. Saying that 8% of guests are taking up 70% of capacity, is not proof of abuse. Of the two general forms of abuse being discussed here: No one knows how many people request DAS actually need it...

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

You know this "Disney is always right thing" is pretty clever. I think I'm going to have to remember that for later... Of course it's about money... what's funny though is thinking that some additional G+ sales are somehow worth risking multi-million dollar class action lawsuits. The math will...

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Oh yeah I know... the numbers that were shared before about DAS usage in Lightning Lane absolutely makes sense and I'm not at all disputing that. The problem is the claim that there is widespread abuse occuring when people with DAS are joining standby lines while waiting for their DAS return...

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Ok so it has to be between 0.0001% and 8% of guests? Where is the study that shows what the level of abuse is at?

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Honestly I thought it worked and I am in the camp that the abuse has been largely over stated. Generally though, Disney cannot ask for proof of a disability and their avenue for determining DAS eligibility is the same as it always has been: asking a series of questions and hoping the...

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Which is exactly what they did with DAS before and according to some it didn't work. So if they are doing the same thing that didn't work last time, why would you expect any actual change to happen?

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

That's not what I read. I read it was being removed as a default option on DAS, but still available for some.

Absolutely it is a floor. They would have only put out a number they were comfortable proving they were already committed to. Which is why it's far easier to assume a lot of that is going to go to infrastructure projects and entertainment offerings they were already planning. Don't forget...

Oh yeah no quibbling from me .... just shows that the money goes to less and less these days. Once they get their new parking structure, security area, bus depot, new trams and busses and all those bridges they want built... there won't be all that much for attractions.

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

And what makes you think that abuse is going to change? The laws haven't changed and Disney's policies haven't really changed either.

Don't forget this little piece from 2015: At a meeting that pushed into Wednesday’s wee morning hours, the Anaheim City Council narrowly approved a tax shield for Disneyland that effectively strips residents of their power to tax admission to the mega-resort for up to 45 years. Council members...

And the follow up because I just saw this... I think the abandoning of the third gate for an additional retail/shopping district is exactly the type of low-interest, controversial project Disney probably has in mind here when they want to avoid scrutiny.

There is no doubt that Disneyland investment helps the city. It's always a question of who does it hurt though and whether the cost of that investment is too much. Remember that this came about due to the unprecedented backlash from the local business leaders over the Eastern Gateway project...
