News Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2023

Tourism travel has historically dropped off a cliff after New Years. People generally need to get back to life after Christmas.

Dynamic Attractions being sold to Hong Kong company

I may or may not have posted before reading the full article… but yeah, it looks like all their value is stuck in a bunch of loans and some contracts they have to now deliver on, which they maybe can’t… No fun..

Dynamic Attractions being sold to Hong Kong company

I’m kind of surprised how low the cost is. It’d be interesting to get an idea of what their financials really look like. My guess given the sale price is they run in tight margins.

Orlando Becoming East Coast Headquarters for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products

I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney’s long term projections on office space has drastically changed since the beginning of the pandemic.

New Square Signage at MK & EPCOT entrance

Are they also using them for the party entrances and some of the other stuff they used the A frame signs for?

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

I didn’t say I was ok with it, but that is the system that’s in place. I’ll actually go further and say that abolishing the district was immature on the part of the governor and the legislature and the whole thing could have been handled in a much better manner if people were acting like adults...

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

While Desantis deserves credit (good or bad) for this, it’s not like the legislature only did their end of it because he asked them to. Remember this all started because Disney made a public declaration to cut all political donations over a single issue. This whole things is as much a statement...

News Pirate rooms at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort to be replaced with 'under the sea' theme

I would bet if they added Murphy beds the rooms you would have a number of families forgive the distance to the non skylines amenities and make a killing.

    Rumor Disney Mask Update?

The CDC is still recommending fabric masks. I think Disney would only change their requirements if there was a change from the CDC.

    Defunctland deep dive on Fastpass

Extremely well done video. It's long, but complete. Anyone interested in theme park operations should watch.

Disney+ Day Kicks Off Global Celebration With Week-Long, Company-Wide Promotions

People on this site are overly negative. It’s in Disney’s long term best interest to control as much of the pipeline between content creation and the consumer as possible. The alternative is tech companies like Apple and Netflix get to make the final decision about what content is ultimately...

News Gangway being prepped near to the Contemporary - second level access coming to the ferry boat?

I think it’s much more likely this is just the next step in the journey to improve the arrival/departure process that Disney has been on for a while now.

Orlando Becoming East Coast Headquarters for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products

I’ve started to notice that a number of the recent job postings that would have belonged to the old Consumer Products Division are being posted as located in either Glendale or Orlando.

    Disney’s Q3 FY21 Earnings Results Webcast

Hopefully Chapek has the ability to sell Feige and various creatives who seem mad about Disney+ on how important it is to the future of the company.

Orlando Becoming East Coast Headquarters for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products

Didn’t publishing have a lot of people in Glendale as well as NYC?

Rumor Hollywood insiders say there's growing tension at Disney as CEO Bob Chapek chafes at Bob Iger's 'long goodbye'

“MGM failed because it got too busy making acquisitions” may be partially correct but is missing some context that is very important in understanding the situation Disney currently finds themselves in. MGMs hayday ended in 1959, due to the invention of television and an anti trust decision that...

Orlando Becoming East Coast Headquarters for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products

I haven’t seen any jobs on the engineering side get posted that are any different from the ones Disney was posting a few years ago when I last looked.

News Contemporary Refurbishment--April to Sept 2021

I like the color a lot better than what is there now. The Incredibles touches are a little much, but not too much. I could do without them, but at least the rooms aren’t so dark.
