Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort closing for maintenance in January 2025

May not mean much, but when were staying at the BC last December shortly before Christmas, it was crowded. The couple of times I walked through the YC lobby, it seemed pretty dead.

Big River Grille and Brewing Works to close at Walt Disney World

I agree. Went there several times before giving up on it.

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

Good points but Disney is more expensive and visits require more complex planning than ever before. Maybe most people will shrug it off and keep going--our family will!--but it's not yet clear what the long-run result will be.

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

I think you're right. I don't think we've yet seen the equilibrium that will result from the increased prices and increased complexity of a visit. Maybe the equilibrium will look like 2019, but it's entirely possible that attendance will ratchet down permanently. Another point not often brought...

New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

Maybe split the difference since art deco was more 1920s than 1940s.

News Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser to permanently close this fall

At least shows they have a firm grasp of sunk costs!

News Disney World Cast Member unions to begin week of negotiations for wage increases, healthcare costs and more

I'm all for the cast members organizing and hope they succeed in significantly improving their pay and benefits. But I don't think "unskilled" is a term of abuse or that it means that somehow a job is easy. Garbage collecting is an unskilled job but harder than hell and I sure wouldn't want to...

News Narcoossee's at Disney's Grand Floridian closing for extended refurbishment June 2022

I'm probably in the minority (I definitely am in my own family!) but I've never been a big fan of Narcoossee's. I thought the food was just ok for the price (or two credits in dining plan days). The wait staff also were often a bit grumpy. My hope is a new kitchen (and new menu?) may improve...

Space Mountain Refurbishment for Walt Disney World?

New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

Was only in there once, for lunch. Pretty much deserted. I think that may have been the problem--packed to overflowing when there was a significant game on, but not attracting much business at other times. So many other better places to eat within a short walk.

    Reservation expansion

I agree with this. Very annoying.

    Late add on

Someone more knowledgeable than me should answer this, but I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. I think you just need to link using his confirmation number (when he gets one). If he's in your Friends and Family, I think you can select him for G+ reservations. You can give it a whirl in MDE. If it...

This made me laugh but it's not far from the truth.

    Hagrids Motorbike vs. Cosmic Rewind

Love Hagrid except for the following: It seems as if the back of the seat is made out of a molded plastic that I found dug into my back whenever the ride pushed me back in the seat. Other people in my party didn't have that problem and I haven't seen other people mention it, so maybe it's just...

Help me Plan my First WDW trip... I think its really happening this time

We have a slight preference for the Yacht Club over the Beach Club, but with small kids, the BC being closer to Epcot could be important for you. I don't think you're going to want to make the walk to DS with kids that young. The Sci-Fi restaurant is a must for young kids, although the youngest...

A Comprehensive Guide the Best Orlando Theme Park Restaurants!

A lot of reasonable opinions. My only two (mild) disagreements: 50's Prime Time is fun, so we always go and Crystal Palace has a cool ambience and the buffet is generally ok. With the CP, given the limied choices in the MK, we eat there on every trip.

    brown derby opinions?

I guess it all depends on what food you order and who happens to be preparing it that day, but we've come to the opposite conclusion: Le Cellier is not as good as it was and we've stopped booking it, but the Brown Derby is a place we still dine every trip.

Ah, ok. Do you know which countries? Thanks.

    Reservation expansion

I'm puzzled by this move. We were there for 10 days last Christmas and never encountered any problems with a post-2 pm park being full. I only read the boards casually but I can't recall people posting that they had run into this problem even during busy times. I echo the point made by many...
