Len Testa - “Disney positions itself as the all-American vacation. The irony is that most Americans can’t afford it.”

I've found the average cost of a room is often $120-150 in the US right now, with the majority exception being paying in advance and having no refundability. In upstate NY, that total does go to $200 more frequently than people would like to admit.

Walt Disney World Ride Elimination Game

Prince Charming's Regal Carousel. It's a good carousel, but I don't think the land truly needs it.

    Water Pistols To Fight Crowds?

You know those water cannons at the end oflog flumes/Kali river rapids? Make them park wide and charge people a fee to use them. Add a random mode so that you can allow people to trigger a random water cannon.

Whatever Happened to Stitch's Great Escape? Any Updates on That Space?

Hollywood Studio's version was Sounds Dangerous, and that's not operating either.

    Wishes or HEA fireworks shows?

The best part of Wishes was that you weren’t forced to be centered on Main St in order to see the show. That being said, HEA is objectively a cooler show.

DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I agree. I loved Hide and Go Seek in Tokyo. If they gamified it that would actually be an enhancement.

News Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser coming to Walt Disney World 2021

You might want to learn about something called a subathon. Basically, viewers on Twitch will keep donating to a streamer to make them stay live. True people pop in and out of the stream, but there's a rather fanatical fanbase devoted to watching extended portions of them. Most of the viewers are...

News Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser coming to Walt Disney World 2021

I’m not sure about that. I’ve been a huge fan of Disney’s newer rides- BATB (Tokyo), MMRR, Remmy, Slinky. I’ve also been a fan of newer shows- Luminous and others. People just generally just aren’t a fan of cheaply or badly made content. Harmonius had the barges that ruined sight lines...

Rumor Higher Speed Rail from MCO to Disney World

I love to travel around, and I prefer to travel to cities with good public transit. Trains are preferred, but frequent high speed buses are also fine. Part of the reason I love Disney is that I don’t need a car to get around. It’s the place that taught me such a thing is possible. However I...

The Highest of Highs! - What is the pinnacle attraction of Imagineering at WDW past and present?

TOT Splash MMRR or Ratatouille HM Probably in that exact order, and assuming only WDW rides are included. I only started going to the parks in 2004, so never rode Imagination when it was new. Engineering wise for attractions I’d give the award to Kilimanjaro or Space Mountain. Kilamanjaro...

Disney World Has Gotten Too Expensive

If anything Disney is the more reasonable one. A $30-70 uber each way to get to and from the airport at Vegas, waiting an hour and a half for an uber on the strip, $6 bottles of soda, $20 to ride a roller coaster, etc. I think that city is more effective at fleecing you out of your cash than NYC...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

Harry Potter is an entire generation’s version of Star Wars, complete with a revisionist creator and a potentially toxically expanding “Expanding Universe”. As long as Universal is keeps to the core 7 stories they’ll be able to milk the franchise for another 50 years.

Luminous: The Symphony of Us POLL

Storytelling was way more heavy handed than Illuminations. But it keeps the spirit and brings back actual fireworks. I like it.

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

We've been in the world of "Big Data" for 13+ years now. I haven't seen how it's made any meaningful difference in company direction, consumer preferences, etc. You don't need a million data points to find out someone is a star wars fan and a star wars fan doesn't always appreciate a movie made...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

The best thing about the Last Jedi was that it did something different. It’s simply the best of the NT. Whether you agree with it or not, they created a situation where the rebel alliance couldn’t run away and was so hopelessly outgunned it didn’t make sense to fight. With a decent amount of...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

I haven’t had any respect for the man since he turned tail just before COVID shut everything down and let Chapek implement and follow through on the main bad ideas he had. Disney needs someone else at the top, preferably a duo creative/business guy that can keep each other in check.

Maybe one reason folks are still going to WDW

I was planning 2 weeks in Japan but couldn’t go at the end. I got everything but $150 refunded. I only got back $1200 (flights were paid in points). The US as a whole is just expensive rn

News Disney's theme park no-fly-zones may be at risk from new legislation

I wouldn't be surprised if this were a concession in the budget bill. Even if the intent is bad most simply aren't going to care. What this DOES show though is that DeSantis's strategy of attacking Disney IS favorable and IS working. Or at least enough people seem to think so that additional...
