News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

While it’s true that JoW technically contains educational elements, I don’t think that’s what drives its demand. Rather, I think its popularity stems from (a) its ties to a hot IP, (b) the neat water effects, and (c) it being the newest attraction in the park. I haven’t seen any polling data on...

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

Yes, 7DMT does have slightly lower capacity than Tron, but I think that actually works against it from an ILL perspective, since it means Disney can sell fewer ILL passes for 7DMT than it can for Tron. I’m actually surprised Disney hasn’t moved Tron off VQ by now simply for the proposes of...

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

I assumed that Tron ILL generates more profit than does 7DMT, but it’s possible I was wrong about that, in which case I can definitely see them keeping 7DMT ILL and moving Tron to G+. My main point was that I am guessing they will go with 2 ILLs rather than 3 because I imagine Disney would not...

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

I would guess TBA debuts as ILL/VQ and they move Tron to ILL/standby and 7DMT to G+/standby. Tron has been open longer than ROTR and Rat were when they moved to standby. And 7DMT moving to G+ will help increase G+ sales, while also taking some pressure off JC and PPF, which currently sell out...

Rumor Lion King Flume Ride being considered for Animal Kingdom

I don’t think AK is particularly in need of more E-tickets. They desperately need more family-friendly rides. I’d rather them spend their budget on multiple C-tickets over one E

Rumor Lion King Flume Ride being considered for Animal Kingdom

Agreed. I personally find ST and MFSR to be quite similar experiences (I’m sure Star Wars fans can appreciate the nuances between the rides more than I can as a non-SW fan). I even feel the same about MS, despite it not using the SW IP at all (though at least it’s in a different park)

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

It’s important to note that WDW has always had more theme parks than UOR (currently by a 2:1 ratio). Expectations should be set on a theme park level, not a resort level (especially in the case of WDW, where the theme parks are spread out and hopping between them is so time-consuming). IOW it’s...

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

Yea, this is one thing that is just really hard to pre-judge. The dark tone for the lift hill worked really well in splash. It’s possible the cheerful approach in TBA will work just as well, and it’s also possible it will completely destroy the ride’s climax. I doubt anyone can accurately intuit...

Rumor Lion King Flume Ride being considered for Animal Kingdom

Generally speaking, when it comes to slow-moving dark rides, the ride system exists predominantly to transport guests between scenes. The entertainment comes from the show elements themselves, not from the ride system (in contrast to a thrill ride). The choice of the particular ride system...

Rumor Lion King Flume Ride being considered for Animal Kingdom

By the time Disney green-lights a sequel for a film, they’ve already determined that they view the IP as a formidable “franchise,” making it a good fit for a significant park presence. The BO results of a sequel are less relevant in that regard than those of an original. That’s why we still see...

Rumor Lion King Flume Ride being considered for Animal Kingdom

To my knowledge, the original plan was also based on the animated film (well, the one produced by Animation Studios, since they were technically both animated). I would think it’s very likely that Paris borrowed some of the animatronic designs from the DAK version, as the imagineers certainly...

Rumor Lion King Flume Ride being considered for Animal Kingdom

Google Maps doesn’t show the Club 33 building. Though I’m sure they could technically fit the Paris ride there if they really wanted to, but it would require a lot of moving things around that would make this project a lot less appealing to the powers that be.

Rumor Lion King Flume Ride being considered for Animal Kingdom

The ride would actually go north of HH, adjacent to FOTLK. Savannah Circle would be pushed west to accommodate the new show building.

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

They made the barn look bad on purpose. While Tiana is an excellent chef, she does not have a very good eye for art and so she designed this hideous looking monstrosity. The theming here is actually exquisite if you would only open your eyes to it. It’s like a modern day Dino-Rama

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

I regretted my last sentence (“…only to keep the fantasy half in”) as soon as I submitted it for this reason. An attraction portraying a fantastical adaptation of the American West certainly has a place in Frontierland. But one based on a fantastical Land of the Dead does not. Maybe I’m missing...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Sorry, I agree with that 100%, I should have been more precise. From what I was told about this project, it would not have been themed to Latin America, but rather set in Latin America. The idea was to use Latin American culture to explore the universal themes of family and community (which IMO...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

I agree that they shouldn’t. Which is why Coco made sense as part of a greater Latin America land with Encanto. With Encanto clearly out, I could kind of see Santa Cecilia as an extension to Frontierland (even though the U.S. obviously never expended into present-day Mexico), in which case the...
