Reflections on my time away from WDW

Thank you for your thoughts --painful as they are to read I find myself agreeing ...we've had many of the same concerns and disappointments. The price comparison you show between WDW and Universal is jaw dropping. The pricing for WDW has gone "beyond the pale" for our family -- along with the...

Party of 6 vs Party of 5 (Huge Difference in planning)

There are a number of jr. suites available at various hotels - WL, AK, CR, etc...since you are going during value season you may be able to get a discount off the rack rate to bring the price more in line with your budget. That said, our family of five really have enjoyed Port Orleans Riverside...

Values sold out in Feb '18 already, cheer comp?

We often go in late Jan/early Feb before the rate changes at President's day. I usually don't book until the fall and have always found Disney releases more rooms - certainly not a guarantee, but that has been my experience. We have always been able to get a reservation in the values (usually...

    All star or pop century

We've stayed at both and prefer POP --there is lots of room to walk around the resort and we enjoy the stroll over the bridge to walk around AoA --the easy walk to AoA allows for the option of two food courts for dining and you can also take the bus from either resort if needed.

    Beach club or wilderness lodge?

I love WL - quiet, less crowded pool, watercraft to MK and Contemporary where you can hop on monorail...stroll over to Ft. Wilderness plus we really enjoy the WL lobby area --very nice bar and the new Geyser Point is great. If you are looking for a calmer experience I would choose WL. That...

Grand Floridian and Poly to the Pop?

Can you put 5 in a room at POP? It is certainly a different experience than staying at GF and Poly - your room is smaller, the beds are smaller, the bathroom is tight with only one sink, no closet and all exterior rooms...5 in a room would be tight! Having your car will help a lot - we drive...

    Planning February 2018 trip...

WL is less expensive than BC/Yacht ---rack rate this past year around that time was in the neighborhood $470..Yacht and Beach were $570..hopefully you'd be able to snag a room discount of 30% --no guarantees on that tho. The Yacht and Beach would be easier for sure but more expensive--here is a...

    Planning February 2018 trip...

WL ...great resort with watercraft for your transportation...AKL is challenging because of transportation distance...(isn't this race in the MK?)

Old Key West, Caribbean Beach, Saratoga Springs, or French Quarter?

POFQ ( tho I like POR better for their landscaping, food court and pool ..plus the 5 quiet pools) OKW SSR CBR

Parents night out! Where to dine?

I agree with AKL .. Victoria Falls for a drink and Sanaa for dinner --then relax with an after dinner drink by one of the fire pits! Also have you thought about Citricos? You could have a drink at Minzer's then on to Citricos!

    Sanaa or Disney Springs?

Disney Springs is fun to visit if you like to shop and eat---how will you get there? I do want to mention that parking can be packed and when we ate at Homecomin (which we really liked and would recommend), we had a long walk from the parking lot. Disney Springs reminds me of shopping areas...

    Polynesian

My husband and I usually stay at POP Century when just the two of us go to WDW...when the whole family goes, we love WL - the theming is great, the watercraft is fun, the pool is nice, the new Geyser Point is good (and Roaring Forks will reopen soon) and it has a welcoming feel as soon as you...

    Teppan Edo Food Quality?

We think the food quality is solid - we live in Atlanta, but we never go to this style of restaurant so for our crew of 12, we really enjoy the experience and the food. Toyoko Dining next door is very good as well -

    Birthday restaurant recommendations

AKL is such a fun resort to visit and any of their restaurants are great - after dinner enjoy the outdoor decks so you can see the animals and sit around the fire pits - really a nice evening WC is fun - loud but fun and the food is good If you want a character meal, Garden Grill is good and you...

    PizzeRizzo Reviews

We actually thought it was a pretty good meal for lunch- my pizza was hot and had a nice small side salad..my husband enjoyed his meatball sub sandwich which also had a salad --certainly not a "great" meal and certainly not NY pizza, but perfectly fine for us.

Where do your children enjoy eating in Epcot?

Lots of great recommendations already --I'll second Biergarten, Teppan Edo and Garden Grill

Best bars in Disney World... for food!

Gotta agree with Crews Cup - shrimp tacos and their caesar salad is large enough to split -- the Yacht Club burger is also great...and I've heard the lobster rolls are very good too Territory Lounge - asian chicken wings and pork nachos are good...the portobello soup is excellent too!

    Should we purchase magic bands?

I agree that you don't need them but they certainly are convenient and kinda fun to have:)

    POFQ vs Contemporary

I would think that would be a fair amount of money to switch from POFQ to Contemporary...hard to beat convenience but I do think you give up some of the ambience you get at PO -- the Contemporary is very large and feels "cold" to us. Have you considered WL -- love the lobby, interior rooms...
