Yes because of the medium you can’t get every detail correct so you go for an authentic feel. Just like film. It’s not a foreign concept. It’s everywhere at WDW.

Riverboats were a large part of America in the early 19th century. It made perfect sense in Liberty Square.

Actually it made a big difference. Take the Mario Kart ride. In Hollywood, the queue has a long portion outdoors and hot as can be, even on pleasant days. It would have been insufferable in Florida. At EU, it’s indoors. Huge difference.

WDI moving to FL would have been a major win for quality and common sense. Losing “Imagineers” trained in the UC ecosystem wasn’t a bug, it was a feature. Also, when WDI is in CA and not where their bread is buttered (WDW), you wind up with parks like DAK which are extremely hot with little AC...

Yeah that’s a big challenge with Japan, not so much HKDL. My wife didn’t like the food very much. We stuck mostly to what was familiar, which is limited. Fortunately they can make cheese pizza if you ask them to!

Japan is great. Very safe to travel. I have military friends who were stationed in Japan and would send their kids on the public trains to TDL and they were perfectly safe and had a great time. The hardest part is actually the flight. We broke it up by staying in Hawaii both ways.

We paid a pretty penny for the HKDL hotel but it was totally worth it. I was blown away by them still having the orchestra in the lobby. At TDR we did a vacation package at FS which was pricey but worth it and did the remainder at the TDL hotel, very nice as well. Disney doesn’t build hotels...

Europe is a great alternative to WDW. My wife and I stayed in Rome this January (off-season) and it was incredible. We even met Pope Francis! Our hotel overlooked the Pantheon, meals were inexpensive (at the moment and pops, tourist traps abound) and delicious, and everything was in close...

Walt Disney World is a far better value proposition than Vegas. The same steak in Vegas costs double what it does at WDW. Ditto for everything else. They truly nickel and dime you there. And for what? To gamble? Seriously? I’ve been for conventions. They’ve even had IAAPA there in the past. LDI...

I believe that’s also where the original Admiral Joe Fowler and one of the SSL steamships inadvertently met their demise.

At WDW that’s the case. At DL they shut down half the park and all the entertainment for a drizzle of rain or a hint of wind.

Wasn’t there news sometime ago about a new ferry boat being under construction? What ever happened with that?

Sorry but the decor of Mama Melrose is going to be far more interesting than Harryhausen’s.

From the latest bioreconstruct photos it definitely looks like they’re already dismantling the Liberty Belle.

I think the best time I’ve had on the speedway was with my dad as a kid. We got in and of course the steering wheel didn’t work so we crashed back and forth the whole trip around. Now that was fun!

The speedway can be very thrilling depending on who is driving the car behind you!
