2nd and 3rd parks at Shanghai Disney Resort

Thank...goodness? The company doesn't have the focus nowadays to build and sustain an EPCOT-style park. Are we thinking spirit of EPCOT, but heavier fantasy skew?

2028 Summer Olympics - Thinking About Going?

Same here - I've entered the lottery. I'd be thrilled to be a part of it in some sort of fashion as a fan.

News Avatar Experience coming to Disneyland Resort

Weren't the '24 Olympics also a downer for Paris as well?

News Avatar Experience coming to Disneyland Resort

I'm curious if the 2029 date is to allow for a new offering elsewhere in the resort to take the 75th spot in 2030-31. Some other part of the $60B that hasn't been announced yet but perhaps will be at D23? As we all know, "investment is due to ramp up closer to 2030..."

News Coco Boat Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure

Yes - I certainly meant I'm impressed with how they've adopted the space. Certainly not nor have ever been thrilled about the Pixar Pier conversion.

News Coco Boat Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure

I'm just here to say in comparison to Avengers (built in an open parking lot) and Avatar (moving around a couple of bus stops), I'm very impressed with how they found the real estate for an attraction like this, especially a boat attraction which requires more space than, say, a tracked dark ride.

Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

I would argue the best way to integrate characters into the park would be to naturally weave them into the fabric of the park, not to shove them into an odd corner via a Fantasyland dupe.

Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

I personally think the problem with Fantasy Springs is that it simply doesn't justify its existence. Whereas everything else in TDS is and feels new and novel to the resort, Springs feels duplicative to Fantasyland at TDL, just done with a bit more polish and a larger scale. Not to mention it's...

News Josh D’Amaro Named Next CEO of The Walt Disney Company

I agree with you, but I also think it was first-day jitters frankly. He's human. A highly-paid and incredibly compensated human, but a human nevertheless. FWIW, It's been reported several times that in order to get the CEO gig he had to present his own vision of the company moving forward and...

News Josh D’Amaro Named Next CEO of The Walt Disney Company

A bit dramatic, IMO. I'm happy with the Josh pick with the Dana balance, considering the internal pool. Not sure if this has been called out in the 18 pages of drama, but the difference between Josh's decisions as head of DPEP versus Josh as CEO is the same as making decisions you make when you...

Wreck-It Ralph Attraction Coming to TDL in 2026

$200 million is absolutely insane. Then again, so was half a billion for Cosmic Rewind. One thing Chapek wasn't wrong about is WDI's inability to follow a budget.

Do you think Shanghai will go for another expansion next or go for a second gate?

To marni's point, WDSP very much gave "fine, here, take it" energy. Versus DCA which, as we know, was based in hubris. HKDL was always designed to be a test park - correct? - for the wider market. Which is odd in terms of thinking of its longevity.

Do you think Shanghai will go for another expansion next or go for a second gate?

I'd argue AK was fine to build, given it was never meant to be about the rides in silo. WDSP and DCA on principle were doomed from the start. HKDL wasn't a bad idea, but a poorly executed one.

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

Well said and perfect capture of what the whole crisis was really about. Late night is dying - isn't that, in part, what the latest series of the fantastic Hacks on HBO was about anyways? - and Iger could have used the opportunity to kill what is surely a money loser. However, for the sake of...

News Disney Earns Spot on TIME's List of 250 Most Iconic American Companies

I said the same thing. I can justify the other nine companies, but Nike? Nike definitely deserves a place on the list, but not above Disney, who created and owns multiple properties that are essential Americana.

The First Five Years of Eisner/Wells at Disney were remarkable

I absolutely agree with this, and it's a fascinating look at how a company is ran under a creative mind running a business versus a business mind running as a creative. Eisner, for all of his faults, was a truly passionate creative individual who had an emotional center, and I think so many of...

    All things Knotts Berry Farm

To this point, I was at SFMM over the holiday break and for the most part they were running things pretty efficiently all things considered. Compared to Knotts which I don't think I've ever seen run things efficiently. 3 minute dispatches are quite the norm it seems, making even slow days have...

News Coco Boat Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure

Can absolutely attest to this. I've been going to DCA since park opening and I distinctly recall the bunny hops before the penultimate break run having a lot more of a surprise pop to them versus the smooth glide they now provide. In general, the ride used to have a bit more of a bite to it than...
