    WDW Laying off Cast Members

I know someone who is a merchandise manager at WDW. There are two sides to this. First, if CM's never did anything they weren't supposed to, then Disney wouldn't need managers to "ride around on their Segway" looking for such behavior. Secondly, sometimes managers are very limited in the...

I suspect they're trying to open it for the Food and Wine Festival crowds in October.

Disney Bans Kids from Victoria & ALberts

Two observations: A couple of people have talked about implementing a "no kids" policy at California Grill. I've only eaten there once, and I have to say it was one of the noisiest restaurants I've eaten at WDW, but not because of any kids. In fact, I don't recall seeing any kids there that...

    Kids Thrown Out Of Disneyworld

I think WDW did what they had to do, and I'm saddened the TV report tried to make it look like "Big, Bad Disney" was the heavy. Of course, I'm also of the opinion that folks who get caught smoking outside of the designated smoking areas should also be kicked out.... but that's just me!

Activity on River Country and old Discovery Island

isn't Discovery Island a wildlife refuge? Didn't Disney have Discovery Island declared a wildlife refuge years ago? If so, then they are probably very limited as to what they can do there. And I doubt launching fireworks would be very compatible with wildlife! :dazzle:

    All Star Music disappointments

complain to TSA or airline -- even though it won't help I doubt very much that Disney messed with your luggage straps/tags. If they looked really nice, then TSA inspectors or airline handlers probably took them, without fear of consequence. Here's a true story: I flew with my family to a...

    Best Footwear for WDW

crocs stock DW and DD both love crocs -- they got me a pair of Mickey red, and I find they're perfect for WDW. They loved them so much they wanted to buy Crocs stock. I was a little leary, so we only bought a total of 20 shares at $44. Yesterday, Crocs closed at nearly $81 per share.:eek...

Woman claims to have been beaten in line

security video Almost every inch of each park at WDW is covered by security cameras. I would be very surprised if Disney did not have video of the "incident."

Urgent Poll re "rumored" Dining Plan changes

too much food for one, however.... I agree that the DDP is too much food for one person -- but I've never been "forced" to eat too much food! DW and I have never had a meal for just one person while on the plan. We always share -- even if we aren't on the plan. That way we can go to that...

    Cheerleaders: Respect the Guests!

at All Star Sports 12/2-12/6, cheer and Pop Warner time We just got back from a trip to WDW, where we spent part of the time at All Star Sports. A couple of observations: A castmember told me that the cheer people are required to sign a code of conduct agreement, where they agree not to do...

On the verge of canceling my Disney trip

There are different kinds of CM reservations There are different kinds of CM reservations, and they work differently. To get the 50% discount, the CM must be staying in the room and, I believe, make the deposit and show id. There is also a kind of CM reservation which they used to call "extra...

Dream Squad in the Magic Kingdom Today

Daughter is on Dream Squad My daughter is on the Dream Squad for Epcot, and her boyfriend is on the Dream Squad for the Studios. They had training last week and have been out in the parks this week just sort of getting used to mingling and being seen. Unfortunately, because I'm related to...

Everest REVIEW - Today's AP Preview

There is definitely a safety spiel, repeated in both english and spanish. I rode a total of 20 times on both Saturday and Monday last week, during the CM preview. There is more detailing to be done, certainly in the queue, and perhaps elsewhere. On Saturday the waterfalls weren't running. On...

    No gum?

As I understand it, this was a policy established by Walt himself when Disneyland opened in 1955. So, it isn't a new policy. And, apparently, the problem of people behaving like slobs isn't a new problem either.

    "Mean" Cast Members

I haven't read all of the posts in this thread, but one thing that perhaps bears mentioning is that Disney hasn't done much to help cast morale recently. Last year they played hard ball in their negotiations for a new contract. So now I have heard many stories of cm's leaving for Universal or...

Was anyone at Disney 0n 9/11/01?

My family and I were there. We had left our room at Caribbean Beach -- and we'd had CNN on -- just before the news broke. So we got the to MK totally unaware that anything had happened. When the alert signal sounded we had no idea what was going on. On the way out to the buses, my daughters...

    IJA Plans 75% Complete?

About the elaborate queue at DL for IJA: I think it is as long and elaborate as it is because the show building is located outside the berm. So you have to have a long queue to get people under the railroad tracks and into the show building. The long queue, then, is primarily a concession to...

What's the longest anyone will drive to WDW?

Last April we drove from Washington State to help our daughters move to go work at WDW. It took us 63 hours, with one overnight stop in Goodland, KS. It would have gone more quickly, but a spring blizzard in Wyoming slowed us down to a crawl for about half a day. :hammer: My wife and...
