News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

The book talks about how Ron really suffered from imposter syndrome and how everyone knew he got the job because he was Walt’s son-in-law. Walt basically told him he should come work for him after watching him take a massive hit during a football game. He was also NOT a people person and let...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

Don’t talk about Ron Miller like that. He tried but was too worried about making his Black Cauldron ride. In all seriousness Storming the Magic Kingdom was an awesome read about how Ron Miller had no business taking over from Roy and the split between the Walt/Roy side of the family and how...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

He retired and then by all credible accounts from very legitimate stories in both the Hollywood Reporter and the WSJ engineered his successor’s removal from the company by going around Hollywood and saying how bad of a job he was doing and how he should have never picked him to succeed into the...

MK All-New Nighttime Parade Disney Starlight Set to Debut at Magic Kingdom in 2025

I’m somewhat afraid it will take so long for this feature to work it will just get cut.

MK New Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Updates Coming to Walt Disney World

This is NOT a hot take. Not everything needs to be or should be an E. They need C/D attractions to eat people and provide a variety of experiences. However the problem is they seem to only want to build E tickets anymore.

MK All-New Nighttime Parade Disney Starlight Set to Debut at Magic Kingdom in 2025

An interesting point I’ve noticed on this trip is that when we’ve told CM’s we were going to see the parade or saw it last night, etc. when they’re making small talk we have gotten a really consistent answer from them - they’ve all said the parade is “good” but not great and that it needs a lot...

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

They laid 90% of them off during COVID and realized they could hire cheaper replacements post-COVID.

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

The problem with having a unit that bills itself as the most creative and innovative in the industry is when you don’t let them be, well…creative and force them into a box their work product will inevitably decay.

News MK Ferry boat crash last night, multiple injuries

A fascinating book that really dives into Card Walker’s influence over the company after Walt’s death, the split between the Walt and Roy sides, and how Eisner came to be CEO is Storming the Magic Kingdom - very much like a prequel to Disney War but might even be better. Fun fact is Frank...

News Disney Lakeshore Lodge (Project 89 - Development near Fort Wilderness)

I will say this - I’ve always been a big Riviera critic for the same reasons rehashed - lack of theming, etc. HOWEVER - my wife has been insistent we stay here because she love it for some reason (although she also hates Illuminations and LWTL so maybe we don’t trust her opinion on WDW 🤣🤣🤣)...

News MK Ferry boat crash last night, multiple injuries

My mistake. I just realized the article I read was old and see where he retired in 2022.

News MK Ferry boat crash last night, multiple injuries

So you’re saying the post is a payoff? He’s still listed as employed in whatever that position he took in DPEP is. But I can see that and the window being a “go away quietly” from Iger to minimize any waves made.

News MK Ferry boat crash last night, multiple injuries

I thought George had already retired. I know they gave him a window on WDW MSUSA. EDIT - nevermind I see where he is now in a strategic role with DPEP. Can’t we get rid of Jeff and bring George back?

News MK Ferry boat crash last night, multiple injuries

I got a very nice email from George Kalogridis when he was president of WDW so there is some precedent for that position replying to guests even if it’s only a random assortment of emails to which they respond. I know Kalogridis had his sore sports with super fans but at least he somewhat...

MK All-New Nighttime Parade Disney Starlight Set to Debut at Magic Kingdom in 2025

The princess float when it changes colors and music to match each princess is also a good effect and I will say - the dancers look much better in person and I get what they were trying to do there with them not being fully lit.

MK All-New Nighttime Parade Disney Starlight Set to Debut at Magic Kingdom in 2025

Alright yall - I’ve got to come eat a little crow about Starlight. The parade does NOT film well at all but was very good in person tonight. All the performers were on and even the butterflies and ice crystals didn’t look awful. The pacing also seemed correct this evening. I still stand by the...

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

Right after COVID (this would have to have been 2023 I believe) I was flying to Orlando for a work conference out of the ATL airport, and I was in line to get on the plane and I noticed the two folks in front of me (a husband and wife) had Imagineering bookbags on - they were probably in their...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

"driven by greater participation at higher prices." That is a key phrase - frankly I don't see how the trend of greater participating at higher prices works out long-term for anyone. People will eventually get priced out.

News Magic Kingdom Expected to Close Early in October 2025 for Gartner IT Symposium

Yep - and if they felt they needed something to drive up attendance buying out MK makes it difference. Plus Gartner registration fees are well into the four figures so they have the revenue.

MK All-New Nighttime Parade Disney Starlight Set to Debut at Magic Kingdom in 2025

No doubt they’d love to run it seasonly and maybe a few nights a week during the slower seasons and once or twice nightly during peak times. I don’t think outside financial crisis though that will happen mainly because of how 1st time/only trip visitors skew to WDW.
