News Reflections of Earth confirmed to be replaced by Harmonious

I watched a small bit and it seemed like they tried to combo Go The Distance and How Far I’ll Go and it was painful to listen to, and I love those songs in isolation. I turned it off. If I’m ever in Epcot at night again I’ll just stay in Future World, which would be an almost unfathomable...

News Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours coming for resort guests

I'd hope so, but hadn't they been cutting hours pre-pandemic? I remember complaints that MK was rarely open past 10 ever going into 2020. I used to do 3-5 Haunted Mansion rides in a row, visit Pan without a wait, visit the Princesses with no line to say hi (they tended to have a somewhat more...

News Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours coming for resort guests

I guess this is less of an issue if the parks are actually open later anyways, but my favorite WDW memories are usually of exploring past 10 pm on EMH nights. That early opening thing is worthless. If you’re lucky maybe you can book it and get two popular rides in before major crowds hit.

News Disney's Magical Express to end after 2021

I can’t believe how much WDW has gone from the first thing I wanted to do when the pandemic was over to something I might not ever want to do again. EMH is dead, and now this too? Part of the appeal of the whole thing was the convenience and ease. The bubble was the selling point. I’m not flying...

Haunted Mansion vs Pirates of the Caribbean

Honestly, after a certain point I kinda find POTC boring, at least at MK. I can ride HM ten times in a week and still find myself joyfully enraptured into the theming, wanting to get out and explore the manor. POTC is fine, I’m sure the DL version is better, but at MK I’m kinda just meh on it.

News Disney characters will soon be visiting Walt Disney World Resort hotels

Wasn’t this also a big survey topic a few years ago? They were wondering if they could jack up hotel fees but give some bonuses like character interaction to make it feel justified/premium. I’ll be interested in seeing how this works. The parks have a lot of castmember-only areas that...

Joe Rohde announces retirement from WDI

When the pandemic started the first thing I wanted to do when it was over was go to WDW but the more news we get the less I want to go back in general. I don’t have faith the Disney I loved is ever coming back. Is this what it feels like to have grown up with 80s Epcot?

News New Play Pavilion to replace Epcot's Wonders of Life

I could be wrong, but I believe an insider here said that those areas would not be used while it was still the Play Pavilion. Play is a bit of a long term bandaid and a decade or more down the line it’d be redone in a new theme to use those areas. But again I could be misremembering and...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

Some quite Googling brought up an article saying they furloughed 43,000 just at World way back in March. So this is pretty substantial (and is really insane considering college program and international program are not included in the totals).

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

Is this including castmembers who have already returned to work or just those still furloughed? I read the statement and I don't quite know still. It's awful all around but can you imagine going back only to be told 'never mind' a few months later?

News Splash Mountain retheme to Princess and the Frog - Tiana's Bayou Adventure

That feels like a nonissue because there’s nothing stopping someone from doing THIS RIDE IS BASED ON A FILM THAT IS RACIST videos as-is.

News Splash Mountain retheme to Princess and the Frog - Tiana's Bayou Adventure

They’re barely more than cameos in those movies, and in the case of Roger Rabbit they’re contemporary-ish to the setting anyways. I don’t think a ton of Americans are gonna fly to Japan for Splash Mountain either.

News Primeval Whirl, Stitch's Great Escape and Rivers of Light permanently closed

Considering they just seemingly cancelled the Poppins addition and SSE rework and a ROL/Chester&Hester replacement would be more expensive, I wouldn’t bet on it? If they’re keeping it carnival themed, I could see a cheapo flat ride popped in quick, I guess.

News Disney confirms multiple EPCOT projects are paused

I’m not saying it’s likely, but I could have sworn Marni said it was really far out as a project anyways. I can see it still happening, just because it’s so far out it was never on the near term schedule in the first place. Like, if they were blue skying it for 2028, and normalcy returns in...

    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

How is a heavily detailed representation of real African and Asian villages, each with deep backstories, problematic? Or, like, anything in World Showcase? Compared to a ride based on a film Disney has been so embarrassed by they haven’t shown it in 30+ years.

    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

Thats not an option you get to choose. They’ve decided that having an attraction based on a film they find so problematic they refuse to show it anymore is wrong. You either get a retheme or a teardown.

    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

The whole reason they’re doing this is that having a “Song of the South” attraction at all is a problem. Building a ride from scratch but leaving Splash up solves nothing. They don’t want an attraction based on a highly problematic property in their theme parks. Would you rather they 20,000...

That’s not remotely what this is about nor would it solve the problem.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I’m pretty sure EVERY scientific body has ruled masks as effective. They are 100% “the right thing to do to protect others.” Wear a mask, wash your hands, stay six feet from others, don’t go out if you feel sick. Only if governments actually attribute it correctly...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I mean, reopening things in general is why there’s spikes in the first place.
