The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

We were worried about not having fast passes. What we experienced was lines that moved constantly. A 20 minute wait in a constantly moving well themed queue felt like 10 minutes. 20 minutes in Rat felt like 40.

The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

Two trips to Lauderdale by the Sea during the pandemic, no issues and we will be back. One trip to the Bahamas with no complaints. Covid can not be a excuse for everything. It rained, blame covid!

The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

The conversations we had with and overheard from other guests at the Oasis pool at Poly were very negative. Almost everyone had been coming to Disney for decades, and had been looking forward to the 50th. All agreed it felt like the ball was dropped.

The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

Key West is full of adults and drunks, but the rest of the Keys are full of family's renting houses. My work has me at many rentals or at houses next to rentals. I see them hanging out at the pool and on their boats. Spent 5 days at Atlantis, Bahamas this spring. That was busier than...

The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

I have been at Disney for a week now. Resorts seem empty. Parks other than MK yesterday were empty. We are from the Florida Keys - Key West. Tourism has been busy for a year. This is not a travel issue, its a destination issue.

News Tropical Storm > Hurricane Sam

Storm will be closer to Bermuda than Orlando. I am in the Keys, will be at Disney all next week. We know how to watch storms, and the sites and models to trust. Sam does not have me concerned at all.

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance to begin Standby September 23rd

Wow. I will be there the 26th - 3rd, the 50th. We are early risers. 7am to get a boarding group was always no problem. Real early rope drops for FOP were bad. An uncivilized mob, stressful, borderline unsafe. But, that is what it take to ride. Rise will be a stampede. I am 52 years...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

The vax honor system is brilliant. If you got the vax, it's up to you if you still want to wear a mask. Now, the red hat anti vaxer has a very serious dilemma. Lie and say they were vaxed, and then they don't have to wear a mask? Nope. Being anti vax, pro freedom is their identity...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I am in the Florida Keys, and have had 2 doses of the vaccine. Monroe County has dropped the mask mandate. Went to the Grocery store and hardware store today. Brought a mask with me, and wondered if I would need it. Hardware store, no more sign out front, when I entered backless, no one said...

News VISIT FLORIDA Research report highlights dramatic reduction in visitors to Florida

I do not believe those numbers. 55% decrease in hotel rooms? Our hotels in the Keys were closed for 2 months. It's still dead in Key West. Close to 6 months of no cruise ships. That's about 500,000 people. Most coming from Florida ports, and none of them booked hotels at the beginning of...

What effect has Covid have on the 50th anniversary

Haha. We have a rule. Vacation does not start until we are both "satisfied". Funny how the artists name was blocked out. JoSH AGle. Cause it's the British F word?

What effect has Covid have on the 50th anniversary

We have reservations for the 50th. A few days at CB and then a few days at Poly. My wife and I stopped at Disney for one night on our honeymoon, it was also the 25th. At this point all I need to be satisfied on the 50th is being able to see the fireworks from the Poly beach, half drunk from...

Quarantine from NY, NJ, CT Ends

Here in Key West, tourism is dead. Lots of bars closed, almost every big event was canceled. Just like WDW, who wants to go on vacation to a place that is only a fraction of what it was. My family really wants to go somewhere, but we don't want to fly, and the idea of a long space mountain...

So... a Splash Mountain log sank..

I did not read the last 10 pages, but I do not seem to understand how those logs were not made to have enough buoyancy to be unsinkable.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Here in the Florida Keys, 6.5 hours south of WDW. Tourism is done. All we get are people from Miami on the weekends. It was reported that over 100 business electric accounts in Key West were switched off and turned on in the landlords name. Every few days another restaurant closes for good...

News Hurricane Isaias possible impacts to the theme parks

This storm does not even have a name yet. Even when it gets a name, Hispaniola is going to beat it up. It is also moving at 20+ mph, what ever happens, it will be over real fast. Last week's weather will be worse. I am not even going to buy extra beer. Well, maybe I will, it's going to...

Do you think that Disney world will reclose its gates due to the rising number of COVID cases in Florida and around the country?

We can discuss all day if the numbers are real, fake, or have a margin of error. I can only speak for my area of Florida, the Keys. What is real, is restaurants making posts on Facebook saying that an employee has tested positive and they will be closing for cleaning and testing. There have...

News Magic Kingdom July 2020 reopening reports

I went with someone who does security in our military. He noticed very quickly that the security at Disney were not checking their wands to make sure they were working properly. He said most people trained to use a wand will wave it over their belt buckle, or something else they are wearing...
