Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

Unfortunately, I figured this was coming - and this time frame makes sense - for the furloughed workers still getting healthcare benefits, the benefits enrollment for 2021 will be opening soon; Disney had to make decisions before that window opens

Do you think that Disney world will reclose its gates due to the rising number of COVID cases in Florida and around the country?

Actually, at least the loud guy in the blue shirt came up from Fort Lauderdale. We won't claim him here in Windermere

News Man caught camping on Discovery Island...

We live nearby, and my now college-age daughter was in a Rowing Crew on the lakes just north of WDW. Plenty of gators and snakes, but none of the kids ever got brain-eating amoebas. And they were in the water on the Chain of Lakes daily for years...

Did Disney/Pixar steal this woman’s art?

The interactions with Pixar folks will be the crux of the issue - the copyright for her design is likely inconsequential since the "Onward" van design is different enough (and Pixar can document dozens/hundreds of other similarly airbrushed vans over the decades).

I hear the Rise of the Resistance opening ceremony is going to be pretty interesting.

Too bad - like other Boeing products - this has a tendency to nose-dive

    Predictions! Secret WDC Project — August 22 @ D23

Ok, so Sea World wants to get in the game, too - First Universal's Epic announcement, Disney teasing for D23... My prediction for Sea World - new hand dryers in the restrooms https://www.mynews13.com/fl/orlando/attractions/2019/08/14/seaworld-orlando-teases--exciting--announcements

Rumor New ride coming to Animal Kingdom. D23 announcement expected.

What if - to leverage both the Fox IP AND the "nature" credentials of Animal Kingdom, they decide to put in something "National Geographic" themed at DAK? It could throw IP on an otherwise non-IP ride...

    CM Attacked at ToT

Kinda surprised no one mentioned the potential affect of alcohol on unruly guest behavior. Granted - the report doesn't indicate alcohol was a factor, but i'd be surprised if it weren't. If Disney wants the $$$ from alcohol sales, then Disney probably has to deal with higher reports of such...

News New Stroller Size/Wagon Rules and Enforcement - Effective May 1 2019

The biggest issues with the pull-behinds is safety more than size - folks can't see what they're rolling over or hitting. On a vaguely-related subject, most every time I'm walking down Main Street, i get stuck behind a stroller whose wheels have gotten wedged in the tracks on the street. I...

WDW to Build New North Entrance to Property

I can't help but wonder - does Disney have any pull/recourse with Google Maps, etc, to NOT show that as a viable route when people search for directions? Obviously, there are the primary entrances (which have the arches)...I suppose, though, that this is in part a response to people...

    Flamingo Crossing Hotels

I'm still waiting to see some of the supporting businesses open there - gas stations, restaurants, etc. Currently, you have to drive either to Winter Garden to the North or Kissimmee/192 to the South. Maybe with this rapidly increasing hotel count we'll see enough folks to support such businesses

News Disney removing plastic straws and more by mid-2019

It's a relatively-easy step that helps create the perception that Disney cares about the environment and is being responsive to changing norms.

WDW adding metal detectors at TTC

According to the article, if you get screened at TTC, you won't then get screened entering the MK. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/os-bz-disney-world-metal-decectors-bag-check-ticket-transportation-center-20170328-story.html

    The Spirited 11th Hour ...

My wife and i had a conversation driving through property the other day about this...when we were young (and WDW was still "fresh"), riding the Monorail was a big part of the WDW experience. Now it's questionable, at best. I'd love to see it expand to the other parks, but the expense and rising...

Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

There are at LEAST 2, if not 3 laundry facilities now - don't recall the exact number. But definitely more than one.

Daytime monorail closures in effect through to March

Wow - are we finally going to see some of the much-discussed repair/refurbishment work on the monorails prior to the peak of Spring?
