what was the best WDW guest meltdown you've observed

Wasn't just usual tourism... many rooms taken by those evacuating coastal areas. Even at WDW, all people were removed from Fort Wilderness Campground and relocated to other rooms on-site.

what was the best WDW guest meltdown you've observed

My main concern was where I would stay. The night before Floyd was the last night of my Disney reservation. I was scheduled to fly home the next day. If my flight didn't get out I would have been stranded at the airport... every hotel in Orlando was totally booked. As it was, my flight was the...

what was the best WDW guest meltdown you've observed

Too true!! I've also had an incredibly fun evening out at an All Star pool bar... this time at the All Star Sports. I was on another solo visit to the World and it was the night before Hurricane Floyd was predicted to hit Orlando. Everyone was that strange combination of excited and scared you...

what was the best WDW guest meltdown you've observed

Happened about 15 years ago. I was on a solo trip to WDW after completing a major IT implementation at work and needing a little "down time". No time to plan a family vacation, my wife told me to just go for it on my own and enjoy the break so I did. I was sitting at the pool bar at the All Star...

Perspective: are we too hard on new attractions?

Good point. Something could be done about the bloat, and probably should be.

Perspective: are we too hard on new attractions?

Do those increases account not only for inflation, but significantly greater state and federal health and safety guidelines, greater scrutiny by the legal department today, plus a top-heavy infrastructure at Imagineering that undoubtedly is less efficient than it was 50 years ago? I doubt it...

Fortune Magazine: Disney's tech innovation is my nightmare

As for ADR's... I don't see that WDW has a restaurant capacity problem. If you are hungry there is always someplace you can eat with a minimal wait. Opening additional restaurants will not eliminate the demand at the most popular restaurants... they will STILL be difficult to get in to. The same...

Perspective: are we too hard on new attractions?

Opinions are opinions, and I am not going to say one is "wrong". But that opinion would probably not be widely shared... especially for Expedition Everest.

Perspective: are we too hard on new attractions?

Mission Space, Soarin' and Expedition Everest are not E's?

Perspective: are we too hard on new attractions?

You are comparing new offerings to some of the most outstanding attractions Disney ever created. That is hardly fair... not every new attraction will be "one of the best". None of the ORIGINAL DL attractions would stand up well in a comparison to Horizons, BTM and Haunted Mansion. Occasionally...

Perspective: are we too hard on new attractions?

I think I am pretty open to new attractions. I am not a very complicated person... I just like what I like, and I don't always know why. I don't search for any connection to what it is I am really looking for. In the end they are theme parks and I just want to have fun. My favorite attractions...

Habits you've developed when you visit the parks

Wow mergatroid... alcohol packs a wallop in the hot sun for even an experienced drinker. That must have been SOME afternoon!! :D :p :D

Habits you've developed when you visit the parks

    # Always enter the MK from the right. # First ride is the full circuit on the WDW Railroad. # After getting off the train go down Main Street and ALWAYS go left to Adventureland. That is the way Walt wanted it. # See the lands in clockwise order. # Use the restrooms by the Fairytale Garden. They...

Would/Have you moved to FL (in part) for WDW?

I don't even really like Florida (except for WDW) but turn down a condo in Naples? Are you crazy??? :D :p :D

Would/Have you moved to FL (in part) for WDW?

To me it has nothing to do with economics. I could easily move to Orlando and work part time for Disney or not work at all. When I took early retirement I always assumed I would work part time in retirement, but found there was no need. Between a pension I am very grateful for and the income...

Out of the way places to watch Wishes?

You need to be a DVC Member or with someone who is, but the Top of the World Lounge at the Bay Lake Tower (Contemporary) has a spectacular view... both inside the lounge behind a wall of glass and outside on a large patio. The lights are dimmed and the music is simulcast.

What Things Today Would Walt Disney Have Never Done or Be Out RAGED ABOUT.

I believe though that the Disney family owned a controlling interest in the company until Walt's death. Also, weren't a significant portion of the theme park assets owned by the privately held WED Enterprises? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Fortune Magazine: Disney's tech innovation is my nightmare

OK. I'm new here so I'm not going to say much when I don't know what is going on. But this seems odd to me, and quite different from what I was told this place was like.

Fortune Magazine: Disney's tech innovation is my nightmare

You will never miss out on ANY attraction if you don't want to. With or without a FP, you can ride anything in the park with a relatively short wait if you get there first thing in the morning. Now I despise getting up early in the morning, and I would rather just not do something or know I will...
