    A Signature Dining Question

Based on a couple of threads on another board I thought I'd ask (was participating there as well): What are your expectations when dining at a WDW signature restaurant? Fast or relaxed service? Is 2 hours for the meal too long? Too short? Would you eat at one if you had no idea what was...

    Brief Trip Report 1/23-1/26

Just thought I'd post a few notes/observations from our quick trip. We arrived late Friday afternoon (1/23). The omens for this trip were good. We took off early, landed about 15 early, and were at the hotel about an hour before I thought we would. Stayed at the Hard Rock. Check in was quick...

    Hard Rock Hotel Rate Drop

I checked our room rates in January and Garden View rooms went from $254 to $212. I was able to rebook all 3 rooms we had reserved at the lower rate. The online rate was even better ($198) but it was for obstructed view and could not guarantee adjoining. Bob

    Ride "chicken-outs"

Do all of the coasters and intense rides have "chicken-out" exits before you get on? My wife who does not do coasters has never been inside Space Mtn, BTM, Mission Space, ToT, or RnR. I think she would enjoy the theming of the lines/preshows. I'm not going to try to convince her to ride as...

    FYI: Adding days to tickets

After our trip in January I ended up with one less day on my no expiration ticket than did my wife. (The reason is a long story) We had planned to use the remaining days in a couple years (we bought extra days each on the original tickets). Anyway, I couldn't add the days while in Orlando so...

    All Star Vacation Homes

We stayed there over MLK weekend and wanted to let folks know it was a great place to stay. We rented a 3br/3ba town home. Very clean and neat. 10 minute drive (at most) to get onto World Drive into the parks. Bob

    MLK Weekend - 1/17 to 1/21

So, I’m back after 6 days in Orlando and I thought I’d offer up my experiences and observations as a small way to pay back all the great info I’ve gotten here. I’m not going to bore anyone with too much of the day to day tedium of the trip. Overall We were there from Thursday 1/17 and...

    WDW Brochure from 1974

I scanned in this brochure and put it up on my personal web page here: http://home.comcast.net/~rwdavis/ My mother dug it out of the attic last week. Bob

    Local traffic near Disney

We'll be staying (mid-January) just outside of WDW, south of 192 and west of I-4. Anyone have any idea what the traffic is like around 8am? The goal is be in MK close to rope drop. The drive from the house to the park entrance is about 5 miles and then another 5-6 to the parking lot from...

So who's correct on MLK crowds....

The 2008 Unofficial Guide says (if I understood it correctly) MLK weekend to be very crowded and Tour Guide Mike makes no exceptional claims about this holiday. He still lists crowd levels those days as 2 out of 10. Thanks, Bob

FYI: Unofficial Guide Shipping from Amazon

I just got an email from Amazon that the Unofficial Guide to WDW is shipping today. I pre-ordered it a few weeks ago. Bob

    Illiminations Cruises Question

How difficult is it to actually book one? From what I found so far you book 90 days out for the "regular" boats and then starting a week prior they release the more special boats for general booking. Any tips? Thanks, Bob

    All Star Resort Homes?

Anyone have any experience with them? I ran across them while perusing the Intercot site and they look pretty good. Recommended by Intercot, All Ears (Deb's WDW site), and Passporter so that makes me feel somewhat comfortable renting one. 4BR houses w/pool starting at $219 a night. Seems...

    Dining Plan Credits Question

Does everyone at the table have to use the plan or can only some people use it and others pay? I would assume not but I wanted to make sure. The real issue being is that my kids 16/13 probably wouldn't eat anything on the California Grill regular menu but would eat most anything on the kids...

    Recommended Hotel

We stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Villages on International Dr. back in January. I would highly recommend it based on our experience. We had a 2 bedroom villa with 2 baths, living, kitchen, and laundry. Very clean and well kept. We did not use any of the resort facilities and the pools were...

    First Animal KIngdom Visit

We just got back from a 5 day trip to Orlando and I thought I'd offer my 2 cents on AK. As we waited outside the "talking" palm tree was a riot. Very funny. We started off with the Safari which was interesting but nothing too out of the ordinary for a zoo. The walking tour from the...

    January Trip

We were at WDW from 1/21 thru 1/26. Stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. This was a great place to stay and when we return we'll stay there again. Day 1. Started the first day at the Animal Kingdom since we've never been there. Did the Safari which was neat. Did the walking tour through Africa...
