News Primeval Whirl, Stitch's Great Escape and Rivers of Light permanently closed

My wife and I had the same experience. Clearly caught it on a good night and thoroughly enjoyed it. We're sad to see it go, but very clearly seem to be in the minority. Look at it this way - would we rather have a show that (seemingly) many find disappointing or absolutely nothing (which is...

wouldn't this be the best time for construction on WDW?

Would be amazing if they took the opportunity to perform badly needed maintenance throughout the parks (Haunted Mansion, PeopleMover, Space Mountain, Everest, etc.) and attempt to fast-track some of the new construction. Unfortunately, as effectively explained earlier in the thread, that is...

    Possible Frontierland expansion

I do agree with this. I'm certainly not interested in the splash zone myself (nor the Speedway - didn't even find it interesting when I was 7. Loud, slow and dirty little cars on an uninteresting track = no thanks), but I understand their purpose (Speedway less so, to be honest).

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Your facts ignore the basic facts about the coronavirus. The transmission rate is much higher for COVID-19 than for influenza, and the mortality rate is also higher, particularly for those with underlying medical conditions and over the age of 60. You are quoting raw numbers, not percentages...

    Possible Frontierland expansion

I knew that I would get some awesome information here. Thanks MisterPenguin! Here's hoping that parking lot next to Carousel becomes something "soon"!

    Possible Frontierland expansion

Realizing that all the discussion about expansion at MK is pie-in-the-sky hopes and wishes, I still find the topic fascinating. The one thing I can't picture, however, is where they would be able to expand the park. I guess that they could repurpose existing space (i.e. finally put something...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Sorry if this has been mentioned earlier in the thread, but curious what the crowd levels have been like the past few days. Have fears led to a decline in attendance/increase in trip cancellations? Anyone been to the parks within the past few days have some insight to share?

    Best Resorts

Why would anyone flame you for your own personal experience and opinion? I may disagree with you, but my criteria and likes/dislikes are clearly different than yours. I've stayed at the following: All Star Sports, Pop, AOA, POR, Wilderness, Poly and GF. My favorites have been AOA, POR (easy...

    CRT New Upcharge

I'm normally the type of person that would potentially reply with one of those. Disney is a for-profit business, and their leadership would not be executing their fiduciary duty to shareholders if they didn't look for ways to increase profitability, but there is no logical way to justify the...

News Tomorrowland Speedway and Walt Disney World Railroad to be impacted by TRON construction at the Magic Kingdom

I know that there are people that love the speedway, but count me on board with removing it entirely. Even when I was a kid, I just never had any interest in it. Ugly, loud, stinky, SLOW little cars just bored me to tears (apologies to those that enjoy the attraction). I also am sad to see...

News Park attendance showing significant softness heading into the Fall 2018

Four of us were there this past weekend (Fri - Sun). Did MNSSHP Friday night and it was fairly busy. Overheard two CMs talking - the first said that they heard the event was sold out, the second said "No. It's 3,000 oversold." We had a 40 min. wait for Pirates pre-fireworks, 50-min. wait for...

Why Walt Disney World Needs a 5th Theme Park By 2025

Oh, I absolutely agree that a 5th gate is not being built anytime soon, I just enjoy playing at being the head honcho from time to time. Reviewing these planning maps and construction details absolutely fascinates me, even though I know very little about either. It's also fun to play Imagineer...

Why Walt Disney World Needs a 5th Theme Park By 2025

I wonder if they would ever replace the ESPN Sports Complex with a 5th gate? If you combine the existing complex area with the surrounding land already indicated for future use, it's quite a large area (approximately equivalent in size to Epcot).

Why Walt Disney World Needs a 5th Theme Park By 2025

Thank you very much for the link. I'm definitely a novice in reading those maps, however I can clearly see that the three areas I circled are all listed as Conservation for future use and Unsuitable for building. All of which would seem to make it unlikely that they would be the site of a 5th...

Why Walt Disney World Needs a 5th Theme Park By 2025

Long-time lurker that truly appreciates the information available on these forums. The debate about a potential 5th gate is fascinating to me. As others have stated, I lean toward the idea that TDO really needs to improve/increase the # of attractions at the existing parks first. While MK...

Destination D: Amazing Adventures, at Contemporary Nov 19-20, 2016

I see comments like this all the time on these forums, and I truly can't understand it. At the end of the day, the purpose of these theme parks is to turn a profit (just like any business). They certainly are not there to try and live up to some idealized, long abandoned vision that, quite...
