New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

OMG! Yes you are right. I meant go to Pecos Bill for the fixins! But good news, I wouldn't send my toddlers to hold a table for us :)

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

To clarify, yes my husband and I sometimes do have trouble handling our kids, especially when we’re on our own with them. We have twin toddlers, 2.5 years old, both about 30 pounds. When they start throwing a temper tantrum and won’t get up off the floor, it’s difficult to lift them both up or...

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

That's exactly what we did, we left the park in response. I'm not blaming Disney for my kids meltdown or my decision to forgo the window they gave me. The old policy would have allowed us to return at a later time once things had cooled off. The new one doesn't give that flexibility any more...

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

It was just like the old rider switch where all parties riding first with a fastpass had to scan it. Then the cast member scanned the returning party's band to register the switch as a fastpass in the MDE system. I noticed the fastpass showed up immediately in MDE but with no return time...

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

The cast member told us it was one hour from when they scanned the first parents band which was before getting in line. Not sure what happens if the line is over an hour long. Maybe they add the hour window to the existing wait time?

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

You are right. At our local six flags they We've used rider switch dozens of times before and it worked great for us because of the flexibility of using it at a later time. We always redeemed it the same day but just not immediately after the first parent rode. It isn't always easy to ride...

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

Haha! Yes, I've been dreaming of a solo trip for years now! Just don't have the heart to leave the little ones behind.

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

The cast member only said the rider switch had just rolled out and they were still working out the kinks.

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

I'm not sure it's worked for thousands of other people. It just rolled out this week. In fact at the beginning of the week we received a paper rider switch good for anytime that same day. It wasn't until today that they scanned my band for the switch and said it had to be used within one hour...

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

Update...I talked to our concierge desk at POP and they were able to schedule a fastpass for me later today. I tried scheduling my own fastpass to make up for it but MDE wouldn't let me because I had the rider switch tied to the experience earlier. I'm sure the rider switch policy change will...

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

It's more of a Mom thing, kids didn't have the meltdown until after dad left with big brother to ride. It's hot, high noon, crowded and cold a/c seemed miles away. When dad got back I just didn't feel right leaving behind two screaming 2 year olds. To me the rider switch then seems pointless...

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

Yes I agree one hour is enough but it would have been nice to schedule that one hour window for later in the day. But that was not an option.

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

if only they'd just open up the window to redeem it. Before I think it was until the end of month, which was probably longer than needed and I can totally see people abusing that (selling it to someone else). I think they've just gone the other way and made it too restrictive.

New Rider Switch Policy is Terrible

Or maybe my kids are just terrible. But today I tried to do rider switch with my husband for Splash Mountain. I was told I only had one hour to redeem it. Long story short, I have twins toddlers who had a meltdown after Dad left and I couldn't get them to settle down within the hour window to...

    Family Argument Prior to Disney

So update...I haven't seen or heard a word from the offending party. I'm just going to send a text to see if they're still going. I'm about a week and a half out from our trip and super stressed about the whole thing. Wish me luck!

    Family Argument Prior to Disney

Ha! You’d think I’d be more worried about sharing the rest of my life with them, but nope priorities first, how do I handle that sacred territory of WDW!! 🤣

    Family Argument Prior to Disney

Good to know! I’ve always wondered how the $10 is charged if the whole party doesn’t show up.

    Family Argument Prior to Disney

Thanks everyone for the input. It has really helped me out, talking this through with all of you. I really appreciate it and I hope to come back soon and report a happily ever after ending for our trip.

    Family Argument Prior to Disney

That may be the best solution. Given the circumstances, I don't see us resolving anything before our trip and like CaptainAmerica suggested above, Disney can be stressful even for "happy" families. I'd hate to sweep it under the rug for the sake of the trip and then have a total meltdown while...

    Family Argument Prior to Disney

Unfortunately, I feel your pain. This whole argument stemmed from Mother's Day. Long story short, my mother disappeared without warning on Mother's Day because she was angry and had our whole family panicking as to what happened to her. After filing a missing persons report, working with a...
