News Operating hours at Disney's Hollywood Studios adjusted for January 2020 including a return of evening EMH

We'll be in HS on 1/15 and I've been wondering how in the world I can get us all up and out by 7am. It takes my 9 year old a full 30 minutes to put her shoes on most mornings lololol

    Pandora closing early Jan 14th

That's true, although maybe they would make a note on the park hours? Did the guy in the post above say how he knew about the shortened hours?

    Pandora closing early Jan 14th

Ahhh ok. So that makes more sense! I've been trying to get a FOP FP for months now. The advice on the boards is to just keep trying and things open up....but they're not opening up because they're not offering them later in the day. I wonder if more people will skip AK for that day because of...

Do you try new restaurants when you go to the world? What's one you keep saying you're going to try.

I always try to weave in 2-3 new restaurants to try. I had a goal of making it to all the signatures, but then I found myself really disappointed after the hype and the expense. So now it's just our family faves mixed in with a couple new must-dos. I have us signed up for the California Grill...

2020 The Year of the Upcharge >:(

These two events seem to be held before the parks open and after they close. Have the parks been open earlier than 8am-9am and close after 8pm-9pm? It's been a while since I've been to the parks at night. My were too little to stay up late on our previous visits. I guess I never really paid much...

Why is WDW so stressful, expensiv and overcrowded these days? The fear of dissapointment from a 2020-First-Timer

I think if you were only going for 4-5 days during a busy time of year I would agree that you will probably not have the most magical time. I went for a few days during Spring Break and I was pretty bummed that I wasn't able to enjoy the parks like I had in the past. Although looking back on it...

    What if Disney went dry......

Disney drink prices and serving sizes do not typically lend themselves to tying one on. I have tried lol. I ended up shockingly sober with a stomach ache from all the sugar and an empty wallet.

    What if Disney went dry......

I'm always so surprised at these threads. It's laughable how angry people get about having a drink in the parks. It's wasted negative energy as Disney is never going to give up the revenue from alcohol. Not ever. Not for a bunch of cap lock loving, pearl clutching teetotalers. They just don't...

    The fallacy of overcrowded parks......

I think what the argument is, is that Disney artificially creates unnecessarily high crowd levels, wait times, maxed out restaurants because they are understaffed or under-utilizing space ie: "seasonal" QS locations as an example. This allows them to sell extra magic hours, dessert parties etc...

    The fallacy of overcrowded parks......

I'm going to venture a guess that even if someone has not been to WDW before, they would have an idea of what rides they want to go on and what character meals they would want to experience. Although it's possible that some people just show up at the gates the day of and don't think a thing...

    The fallacy of overcrowded parks......

Just because there's room for attractions and restaurant space doesn't necessarily mean I'm not going to want to ride on the same rides and eat at the restaurants I want to eat at. Every square inch of Disney could have an attraction or a place to eat, but I'm still going to plan so that I can...

    The fallacy of overcrowded parks......

I think if you were taking a "once in a lifetime" trip, or even a every 3-5 year visitor, you would want to maximize your time in the park and be as efficient as you can be. My parents go 1-2x/yr on average and they are WAY chill about going through the parks. They don't care as much about...

    The fallacy of overcrowded parks......

Right! I can't imagine just showing up to Disney without planning anything in advance. Seems like a colossal waste of money to wait in long lines for rides when you could have gotten a FP. And I don't go anywhere without knowing where to eat lol. I get hangry and I would be annoyed if I wasted...

    The fallacy of overcrowded parks......

We were lucky in that my dad worked for the airlines, so we passrode growing up. Only reason why we were ever able to fly there. Downside is that we often got bumped or had to split up on different flights lol. Made Disney all the sweeter when we actually got there.

    The fallacy of overcrowded parks......

Ha! I definitely have not studied this topic extensively and I'm definitely spit-balling. For our anniversary, we determined it was cheaper (or at least the price was negligible) to fly to WDW, stay at our parents DVC for a week then it was to drive to NYC for a long weekend. I'm just guessing...

    The fallacy of overcrowded parks......

The parks are also filled with bloggers and vloggers and instagram "celebrities" that go to the parks every single day to post content. 10-15 years ago, it was pretty cost prohibitive for the average family to go to WDW even once a year. Flights are much cheaper now to Orlando for most of the...

    The fallacy of overcrowded parks......

I know that the constant construction, temporary walls, narrowed walkways, bottlenecks, etc make me feel like the parks are more crowded, maybe when numbers wise, they are not. AK could be a CL 2 and the layout is always going to make the park seem jam packed.

What's the max amount of time you could spend at WDW without getting bored?

I think if you were to take it easy on the parks--maybe just doing a couple half days, plan a hotel day or two in there you would be fine. Plan some lunches at different hotels just to walk around and check them out. Go to Disney Springs for a wander. That is the benefit of a longer trip is that...

What's the max amount of time you could spend at WDW without getting bored?

We only go every 2-3 years so our trips end up being 9-10 days and at the end I'm ready to go home. I'm an extrovert and even I am sick of being around people all the time lol. I'm also ready to eat my own cooking, sleep in my own bed and get my kids on a normal routine again.
