Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

I've heard that it is indeed happening. Official announcement later today. Other sites are reporting, but I also heard this from an inside source of mine. Seems to be inline with the reimagining of DHS planned for the next several years. Closing backlot. Removing sorcerer's hat. Heard from...

    Is this Rock Bottom? POLL

Rock bottom? Come now. I've been a huge Disney fan since I was an infant, have worked in the parks, front-line, as well as in Disney Corporate (marketing), have been to the parks well over 100 times in my 32 years of life, and in no way do I consider now any kind of "rock bottom." I was even...

    DA/Gringotts Review

Yeah that is true. I think the vanishing wall thing is where the disconnect is in GG. Seems to happen so quickly, and in the back row the visual impact is lost I think. The clapping at the end of FJ is very out of the blue. I mean, yeah, we didn't die, sure, but hardly something to get...

    Expedition Everest.....backwards?

Carowinds? That's my home town theme park (I'm from Rock Hill) and for a while they had one side of Thunder Road backwards. It was fun but man was it rough in certain parts. Part of that was simply due to it being an old wooden coaster. They've since replaced most of the track in the rough...

    Dinosaur Carnotaurus

I did notice a few new greeen spiral laser-esque effects at the beginning and end, I guess to add to the time travel illusion, though I will say I didn't really care for the effect at the end. Something about it seemed to distract from from the carnotaur head finale, which I've always thought...

Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid closing for month long refurbishment Feb 2-Mar 6

I definitely don't think you need all the backstory, but it just feels like one scene is missing. It has felt that way to me from the first time I rode it in DL and going forward every other time I've ridden it at WDW. I think just one scene, as someone else mentioned similar to the original...

    Expedition Everest.....backwards?

Thought it might add some additional thrills, it would mess with the theming a bit. First, you're "supposed" to be going on a train tour of Everest. Would be odd for a train tour to be running backward? Second, you wouldn't see the projection effect inside the mountain, and of course wouldn't...

Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid closing for month long refurbishment Feb 2-Mar 6

IMO the ending fix is needed far more than some additional black lights. I just rode it last weekend and don't think I once noticed any distracting supports, rods, wires, etc. in the under the sea sequence. I wasn't looking for them, sure, but then again, 99% of the people who ride aren't...

Ever seen someone famous while at wdw?

This may not count since I was a CM at the time, but when I was on my college program, I was working retail at RnRc. I was at a side register, and while there, a guy came up to me with one of the logoed baseballs from our giftshop. He asked for a pen, and when I asked why, he said that Tia...

    DA/Gringotts Review

@TalkingHead - Oh that is definitely a nice little detail! Like I said, I really hate that we didn't get to ride it more than once as it definitely deserves multiple rides. And to me, that is a sign of a top-quality attraction, re-rideability.

    Great Movie Ride to Close?

That makes sense, I was just speculating based on the rides proximity to the current PL. I know it is going away, but I have no clue what could/should/would/will go there, or if it will be a repurposing/retheming, or a complete tear-down. I would think a complete tear-down, but who knows.

    DA/Gringotts Review

Yeah that is the one thing that I regret is that we didn't get to ride it more than once. We were going to ride it a second time via the single rider line, but got there JUST after they had closed it down (about 1 hr before park close). The standby line was still open at the time, but was a 75...

    October... not anymore!

I was there nearly the same time frame (Oct. 9 - 14) and it was a mess, but unfortunately, there just aren't many times of the year anymore where the crowds are light. October used to be a fantastic time to go, as did May, early December, etc. Now, nearly every time of the year has crowds. The...

    DA/Gringotts Review

@Disneyhead'71 - I'm with you on the AA's. I don't think that animatronics are the answer for GG. With characters such as the HP ones who were brought to life by dynamic actors, you need the actors, hence the screens. AAs wouldn't work and would come across as cheesy (and as you said are far...

    Dinosaur Carnotaurus

Yup, was out of commission when we rode it on Oct. 11 as well. Really takes away from the ride unfortunately!

    Great Movie Ride to Close?

Just to update on this, I heard from a reliable source (I know people say that a lot, but trust me when I say this is about as reliable as it gets) on GMR. They said, and I quote, "don't get too attached to GMR." They also advised me to "get your last rides in on it while you still can." They...

    DA/Gringotts Review

Yeah I liked FJ better than GG, though GG is more family-friendly and does have a much more coherent story. Also I do like the inclusion of Voldemort (and Bellatrix) in GG. Always felt that it didn't make sense to leave Voldemort out of FJ. FJ was much more "groundbreaking" from a technological...

    DA/Gringotts Review

Yeah and I felt that sometimes the dialogue was a bit hard to hear/follow.The end was especially hard to follow once Voldemort casts the flame spell. All of a sudden you're turned around, part of the wall disappears, you're in the next room and then they are congratulating you.

    Expedition Everest effects status watch

Was just at AK over the weekend. Everything is status quo on EE. All effects (except Yeti) working great, including train steam and bird on a stick. Yeti is still good ole disco yeti. However, I heard from an extremely reliable source (I know people say that, but seriously this is about as...

    Maya Grill "House" Drinks

Had an interesting experience at the Maya Grill on Saturday. My wife and I were staying at the CSR. Had been enjoying some drinks at the Rix Lounge. She was having Vodka Sodas with their "house" vodka, which apparently was smirnoff. They were $7.50, which for Disney is about right. Went to Maya...
