Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

Addressed this....Disneyland closes Toontown for the night one hour before the fireworks. IF that area were ever used, the same operating procedures would probably have to be followed.

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

That area could still be accessed....remove the bathrooms near Pinocchio Village Haus, cover the bus drop off and create a walkway (maybe through a tunnel) towards the rear of Small World, and it opens the whole back area. Of course, attractions would have to face north, with buildings up...

    MuppetVision 3D Preshow Update

By the time summer rolls around, this version of the pre show may be gone (as it's advertising for the new movie)....although, the pace at which Disney rolls these days, Constantine may be interrupting the pre show for years to come.

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

To paraphrase the Jungle Cruise...."Ladies and Gentlemen, the back side of Main Street." It's always been bad show, but now it's REALLY BAD SHOW.

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

Note that in this picture, the current pavilions that house the follow spots and light towers, are out of view. It's all in the angles and lenses used. This rather large looking group is actually in a pretty tight space. Same reason why the Price is Right studio appears so large, when in...

    MuppetVision 3D Preshow Update

All references to Kodak were gone from the DCA version of Muppet Vision. I wish I'd taken a picture, but in each group of three monitors, the outside monitors were the same with the center monitor featuring a different image. The center might have said "Jim Henson Presents" with the left and...

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

Been to many a taping at the castle....my point was that camera angles for the musical acts can be adjusted so that any construction to the light/sound tower turrets and new ring could be kept out of view. Not saying that it won't be done by then, but it doesn't have to be.

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

I do....the camera's are set up in Town Square and tall decorative flags are used to block views of the hub and the crossing crowds now, so any hub construction will not be seen by the TV audience. The area in front of the castle is not being touched (with the exception of the turrets) and...

    The Spirited Sixth Sense ...

Just spent 6 days at DLR....I agree...The curse of Colglazier has attached itself to Disneyland. Each day I was there featured multi attraction downtimes. At one point, Pirates, Splash, Space, and DLRR were down at the same time. Another day Space, Indy, Mansion and Matterhorn were down...

    MuppetVision 3D Preshow Update

Muppet Vision at Disney California Adventure is showing the version with Constantine....although Constantine's cameos are just brief "interruptions" in the normal pre-show, it was still quite entertaining. DL AP-ers were treated to a special St Patty's Day party at DCA (Monday 3/17 from 9 to...

Casey's Corner closing for lengthy refurbishment in the new year

Indeed, it WAS originally part of the Arcade.

Casey's Corner closing for lengthy refurbishment in the new year

It appears that there is actually more baseball references and memorabilia on the walls now. The bleachers never really worked and while the screen was kind of neat, IMO it was in a bad spot (although there is that great big blank wall-maybe it's being moved there).

Casey's Corner closing for lengthy refurbishment in the new year

I believe those are just emergency access...if they were to be used, there would be windows in them.

Casey's Corner closing for lengthy refurbishment in the new year

It looks great....won't miss the bleacher seating at all. This new setup was much needed.

Casey's Corner closing for lengthy refurbishment in the new year

While I lament the loss of more green space in the MK, I will admit that this is one change that was needed badly. I don't know how many times we've had to use the top of a trash can as a table. As for the remaining green space, personally, I would create vegetation between the expanded...

MK New Rockwork at Enchanted tales

There are scrims up above and behind the First Aid/Baby Center also....wondering if they're taking care of the view of the back side of Main Street west.

Casey's Corner closing for lengthy refurbishment in the new year

I'm not judging the project yet either....seems as though the hub project is large in scope, so until all the pieces are near completion, I wouldn't expect the final landscaping design to be implemented until the major work is done. I've actually heard talk of more trees being added around the...

Casey's Corner closing for lengthy refurbishment in the new year

As the hub project nears completion, I would bet that railing will be installed in the area that was just unveiled. I also noticed in some other photos posted online, that there are scrims above the area above the First Aid/Baby Center. Maybe they're finally putting some facades in that area...

    The Spirited Sixth Sense ...

President's Day weekend is always the beginning of the week long February vacation for just about everyone in the Northeast...We do it again in April with another week off. That's why you'll see so many un-tanned New Englanders this week.

Main Street U.S.A. concrete replacement project begins tomorrow

It's hard to tell from these pictures....are there still curbs in front of City Hall, or has the concrete work sloped the sidewalks directly into the street (like the section in front of the railroad station)? It's my hope that maybe while widening the ramps, they've left most of the curbing in...
