Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

Everyone seems to be complaining about the theatrical lighting around the hub, but it didn't bother me at all. I feel that Disneyland's lighting is far more intrusive, mainly because the scale of Main Street and the hub is smaller, so those lighting towers really stand out to me. Could the MK...

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

Personally, I felt there was plenty of room to move during Wishes and MSEP. The crowds were contained to the inner ring, and I found it very easy to move from Main Street, all the way to Cosmic Rays without having to dodge anyone. I did feel that the CM's are still trying to figure out crowd...

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

If you look closely in the concept art, the lighting rigs for the hub are there. I didn't realize it until I was looking at the photo.

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

A few more from the last section of outer ring (between Adventureland and Liberty Square)....you'll notice lots of big trees.

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

I took some shots of the completed hub areas during my visit two weeks ago....some of these images make me feel like I'm at Disneyland, not the Magic Kingdom. While the center of the hub is still a bit "barren" for my taste, most of the hub is very lush. The area between the moat and the outer...

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

The low walls and the concession area are the one of the last (northern) sections of the outer ring to be completed. This section of the outer ring will connect the Tomorrowland entrance path and the Tomorrowland/Fantasyland path. The west side outer ring-connecting the Adventureland entrance...

    DISNEYLAND FOREVER - Photos/Video, Reviews & Thoughts

Did I hear correctly that Town Square lost a couple of trees to allow for better viewing? If true, it's a slippery slope....I'd hate to see this trend continued.

New food offering opening in Future World

Odyssey was also the first place we ever ate at EPCOT Center in Dec of '82....The background loop was the sounds of the construction of Horizons ;). It certainly was a special time in central FLA.

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Gary Snyder (and brother Michael), are members of the Redstone family (their grandmother is a Redstone-married name Snyder). If you search his name along with Sumner Redstone, it will bring up more background info. More digging brings info regarding his involvement with media. He "is" a real...

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

In these pictures, you're right....but, in the hub, they are just as misplaced as in the MK. I just couldn't find pictures that showed the bad placement. It's the same problem, but the trees in the DL hub create the same sightline problems (although I'll take the foliage over perfect sightline).

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

When Buena Vista Street at DCA was being built (rebuilt), I wondered why they did the same thing there....they had the perfect opportunity to disguise the show lighting, but ended up putting it right out there in front of everyone. After spending so much money on creating an awesome...

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

Lighting tower AND speaker tower in Town Square (at DL)....so my point would be that THEY have them too. Could and should they have done better? Yes, but they didn't.

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

Disneyland has lighting towers, too.... When this photo was taken (March 2014), most of DL's lights were the old style par cans, which required each color to have it's own light (they use gels), hence, many more lights per tower. While these are even more intrusive than the MK's new lights, the...

    Studios search lights missing?

Good eye with the movie billboard....I never would have figured out Big Hero 6 from the skewed angle of the pic. Let's hope its just a flick of a switch to get those lights searching again!

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

When it comes to parade lighting towers, I was hoping that the MK wasn't getting the DL treatment, but it appears it is. Not only are the DL towers really intrusive, the lighting rigs that rise up on the roofs of Main Street are horrendous. With so many lights, it makes Main Street look like a...

Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

So, once the BAH is gone and the theatre is completely revealed, and the ornamentation put back on the towers, what are the chances that those Hollywood searchlights will return? The searchlights certainly added to the whole studios theme, whilst creating some kinetic energy around the DHS hub.

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

I know....just being sarcastic about the problems of quick cleaning this type of surface.

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

When it's ice cream, they can sweep it up and throw some water on it...sure it's still a mess, but not as bad looking as when someone drops ice cream on an outdoor carpet. Generally they pressure wash the streets after hours, but when it comes to the grass, it seems as though they're going to...

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

My biggest question-regarding the artificial grass in the FP viewing gardens-how is the cleanup handled on this type of surface? Knowing how the hub looks after Wishes or the Electrical Parade, I can see this new viewing area full of popcorn, and piles of spilled ice cream and soda. Popcorn...
