Spirited Spring Break News, Observations & Thoughts ...

If I'm not mistaken, when the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater was constructed, the path that exits the far side of the stroller parking and loops around the B&TB theatre (Perimeter Road) was supposed to connect to the path at the entrance of the boat dock, providing a direct exit to park...

    Repainting of Epcot Central Plaza?

This being Disney, what is the "story" that has been concocted to explain the color scheme?;)

MK New Rockwork at Enchanted tales

Although the Soarin' warehouse is just plain ugly, all of the Future World pavilions have always been visible from World Showcase since day one. World of Motion used to be the ugliest of the bunch. Now that honor goes to Soarin'. If the design of the Soarin' show building had been a bit more...

MK New Rockwork at Enchanted tales

This story is what I referred to as "for various reasons"...in another article I read, all of the above was mentioned, and yes, Eisner did fight for design control, but wasn't as concerned as their dominance over the Epcot skyline until it was too late. At least the younger trio of hotels...

    PotC ride effect

They were selling said toy at one of the parks (maybe Epcot) on our last trip. Having been the target of one of those "air blasts" on Pirates, we were intrigued by the toy version. Definitely one of the best effects in the attraction, but it's hit or miss as to whether you get it...

    No more steam trains? (rumor)

Disney really needs to push the fact that these are "living, breathing" pieces of history, to it's guests. So many tourists are unaware of just how important these pieces of machinery were to the development of our country.

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

I was looking at some old shots of the hub and Main Street and thought that these might bring back some old MK memories for the "old-timers" (me included in that group).

Fireworks & Fantasmic Plan. Critique me, please?

I made my way to the flyover in front of POTC and ended up being dead center "above" the crowd. I was about 15 feet from the New Orleans side of the flyover (opposite the Adventureland end), and had very little trouble getting a spot. The area between the rope and the rail is about 4 feet and...

    DLR Picture of the Day

Photos of the day from 1984....the Grand Opening of World Premiere CircleVision-July 4, 1984. American Journeys ran by day and Wonders of China ran at night. How many of you miss this version of Tomorrowland (do I really need to ask)?

    Fantasmic and WOC Package/show ?s

I just did a Carthay Circle WoC package and was actually disappointed in the viewing location. I thought it was too far to the right. As a whole, WoC (or the viewing area itself) are not constructed for optimal viewing. I'd almost rather watch from the bridge going into Paradise Pier. As it...

MK New Rockwork at Enchanted tales

Regarding the Swan/Dolphin, I've heard that Imagineering warned (and protested) about the placement of those hotels to Eisner, but he wouldn't budge (for various reasons). When they were being constructed/completed, he privately told those close to him that their location was a mistake.

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

Thankfully, this is view is still pretty much the same. Landscapers have yet to take a chain saw to this area (yet). This is one of my favorite paths (along with the one that mirrors this from Liberty Square) in the MK....now if they would get rid of the smoking section that you must pass...

    WDW Permits 2014

Do you suppose these "Holiday Arches" are similar to what DLP had over their Main St (pretty much Epcots Lights of Winter-mounted over the streets)? Personally don't love them, but obviously a solution for an otherwise garland-less Main St,

    Repainting of Epcot Central Plaza?

If I watch this, I'm going to have a hard time sleeping tonight....it will give me nightmares.

    Repainting of Epcot Central Plaza?

The old Communicore design was built with respite from the heat...it's long curving corridors in both east and west providing needed relief from the Florida climate. The plaza was both visually appealing and it's trees provided needed shade, but it's pathways were also smaller since many guests...

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

Sadly, I believe they disappeared too quickly (overnight and no prep work) for them to have been moved. I seem to recall seeing a picture with a box over the area where the trunk of the tree should be. (Someone please tell me if I'm wrong-I'd love to hear of this big old tree being saved.)

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

This little area, near the Plaza Restaurant had what I call "Disneyland Charm". The combination of the landscaping and architecture gave it a little different feel than the rest of Main Street. So sad this big old guy is gone. If the original trees in the center of the hub had been allowed to...

Main Street U.S.A. hub redevelopment at the Magic Kingdom

This was one of the last of the original trees in the hub area. It's a crime that this tree couldn't have been saved....I really don't see why the new path couldn't have been diverted around this tree.
