    WDW Reopening Estimates

D'amaro still needs 8 months at his head of parks and resorts before he becomes CEO.

    WDW Reopening Estimates

Do you think UO is leading, or did they do this cooperatively and UO is first to announce? I know they're rivals, but they are essentially on the same team for this one.

    WDW Reopening Estimates

Disney may not announce theirs for a few days, but I doubt the Universal Orlando date and WDW dates will be far off. I don't see UO opening late June and WDW opening in October.

    WDW Reopening Estimates

It won't be for awhile, but I think it's to get things back moving in the right direction.

    WDW Reopening Estimates

Fun Fact: The Houston Children's Museum will allow you in without a child, but you have to provide a government ID at the front and they document who you are before you're allowed entry. To technically keep my post on-topic, my estimate is currently mid-June in some capacity. On-site guests...

    Upcoming trip survey

That brings up curious point that I haven't seen addressed yet. We are all very focused on day one opening, but the conditions and offerings on day one might be different two weeks later, or a month later, or two months later. We are booked July 6-16. If the parks open in limited capacity in...

    Upcoming trip survey

I was very satisfied to have my opinion included as part of the data that will be used.

    WDW Reopening Estimates

I think immediate profit is less important than having the parks operational and moving forward.

Would you visit Walt Disney World with these health-based operational restrictions in place?

Trained? You're wearing a mask, not riding around the park on a unicycle. They've adjusted to it, but anyone can. I've been wearing one daily for a month now, in Houston, and I don't love it, but it's almost second nature now.

Would you visit Walt Disney World with these health-based operational restrictions in place?

Probably not a group that should be joining you at the parks during this particular time.

Would you visit Walt Disney World with these health-based operational restrictions in place?

We are booked for July and this is exactly my thought and approach.

    Upcoming trip survey

With pent up demand and having to cut capacity, it may benefit them more to have restrictions that make people reconsider keeping reservations. It's better if you cancel because you don't want to wear a mask, or there's no HEA, or whatever your deal breaker is, than for them to cancel you.

    WDW Reopening Estimates

I have a July 6-16 booked and was sent a survey today on my trip. At least twice in the survey cast members and guests both wearing face coverings was mentioned. Probably no surprise since Shanghai is doing the same, but worth a mention. One section, pasted below, was about what would make me...

    WDW Reopening Estimates

I think the Shanghai model works in an indirect way. If you make people jump through hoops, get a medical QR before arrival, etc, you'll probably filter out most of the crowd that would refuse to wear a mask.

How much of Disney World has to be open for you to go?

I agree that crowds are going to be hesitant to come back, but that works out. They need below 50% capacity for awhile. Seems like an ideal situation to open in limited capacity for those who are wanting to enjoy it that way. I have a July 6-16 booked (w free dining) and am in a holding pattern...

NY Times: Bob Iger Effectively Back As CEO

Would be quite a jump to go from studios not being able to own theaters to the biggest studio owning the biggest theater chain. If that came to be, the entire theater industry would be turned upside down. Every theater chain would be purchased by a studio.

NY Times: Bob Iger Effectively Back As CEO

I've been a cord cutter since the release of the Roku2 and I think streaming is the greatest thing to happen to TV in my lifetime. That said, I don't believe the future of new releases is direct to streaming. I think your parallel to the Sunday Ticket makes some sense, but ultimately the results...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I believe we are adjusted to singular event disasters and then a period of recovery. Hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, terrorist attacks, whatever they are, they are usually over quickly. It's a sort of disaster rhythm we've gotten into. This is something different. It feels like it should be...
