    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

I understand this slippery slope idea, but in reality it makes no sense. If that's the case, then no matter how insensitive or offensive something is, it should still stay on proud display. Nothing is perfect, but the truth is some things are more offensive and bothersome than others. I thought...

    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

I'm going to disagree with you there. I'm 41, my wife is 33, we have no kids and I'd estimate we enjoy 90%+ of what the parks offer.

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

I had two reservations, because I'd added a day to my original trip but had to book it standalone to keep free dining. So that single day will be moving from Pop to OKW. Coming down July 6-7 to eat at Sanaa and Topolinos, enjoy OKW, then coming home for a few days. My second reservation - the...

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

Argh! I am trying to put my info in, but there's no place for it on the site. Hopefully it gets updated soon. Still two weeks to go.

I feel like Moses up on that mountain, with God speaking to him.

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

After a whole bunch of headache and a total of more than 6.5 hours on hold, I finally got my reservations worked out and park days reserved. Then I noticed that there's no Magical Express option or page on the site. Anyone heard anything about Magical Express? Did I miss it?

    RIP Judy Hopps

The ride has nothing to do with the film other than the characters and music? Isn't that the very definition of theming a ride? You're welcomed to disagree with me on whether it should stay as is, but the ride is 100% themed to the movie and it's quite well known. It does not exhibit any overt...

Has your resort reservation been changed yet? To what resort?

July 6-7. I'm in a complicated spot. I booked July 7-16 at Pop with free dining. Then we wanted to do villains on the 6th, so we booked a single day reservation for the 6th at Pop and were hoping to just keep the same room. So now I have two reservations: a single day and a 10 day that half...

    RIP Judy Hopps

I wouldn't mind seeing Splash Mountain re-themed. The cringe-y Song of the South stuff is always present in the back of my mind, even though it isn't in the ride itself. And it's not like Disney is committed to acknowledging the film as part of it's history. Iger himself said they wouldn't be...

    RIP Judy Hopps

The person you're referring to was John Morales who wore the costume for Harris County events in the late 90s. He wasn't the voice nor was he part of the national campaign. He was just a local who wore the costume for a time, well before his arrest.

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

I've ordered a bunch from Etsy. The ones I found most comfortable for being in the Houston heat and humidity were from a seller named PeaceThreads. Very light and comfy. They have some cool Marvel and Disney designs.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I believe you're right. I'm in a suburb of Houston and I've noticed a rapid decline in participation. I think some people notice others not doing it and feel dumb, so they don't either. Here it depends on neighborhood and area, but I'd say mostly a losing battle. I'll keep doing my part, but...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I agree. Being educated on them certainly makes me more inclined to wear one once this is all over. Unfortunately, lots of people won't even wear them in the middle of a pandemic, with recommendations from medical professionals, walking by signs on the doors asking them to do so.

    WDW 50th crazy??

I'm so curious how it works with that many people. I usually travel with just my wife. I've done trips with my wife and father (both Disney and non - Disney), met up with friends for shows or dinner in Vegas, New York. That sort of thing. But traveling with 9+ people is a whole other world to...

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

That was mentioned in one of the Disney statements. I believe something about having shaded areas or areas to cool down before temps were taken. I'd prefer if it was all done at the resort before transportation. It would make the flow into the parks easier on arrival.

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

Someone posted, I think earlier in this thread, a chat with a CM who told them Pop Century would be open. I'm sure the CMs doing their best to relay accurate info, but unless we hear consistent info coming from them, I'd say grain of salt.

    Dining with characters is done

I don't think it should be viewed in isolation. Character dining may be one of the most desirable parts of a trip for many people. It's a huge part of the magic. Losing it permanently chips away at demand for WDW. I don't think you can look solely at the cost/expense of an offering; you have to...

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

Interesting. I got a slew of cancelation emails for ADRs and experiences today for my July reservation, but no new confirmation.

News Walt Disney World's COVID-19 reopening plans announced - July 11

If parks were at full capacity and they needed to fill them, I think you'd see some discounts. As it is, from the outside it appears that their very limited supply is outweighed by a much heavier demand. Whether or not that's actually true, or how long it remains so if it is, is yet to be seen...
