We just got back a couple days ago from the Boardwalk as it is our favorite resort. We always book a water view room as we love sitting on the balcony overlooking the boardwalk and seeing all the activity below and looking out over the lake towards the YC/BC.. It's a really well done...

I'd recommend taking a good look at switching Hollywood and Vine for Mama Melrose in DHS. Mama Melrose is a hidden gem that has great ambiance and really good food, you can get an added bonus as it offers the Fantasmic Dinner package

I also would urge the Park Hopper..gives you alot of flexibility, keep in mind as well that universal has 2 parks with Harry Potter attractions so factor that into your budget as you will have to get a 2 park ticket to see both attractions and ride the Hogwarts Express.

Gratuity is a great point particularly at a "signature" restaurant like the Yachtsman (will be there Thursday evening :) ) just the two of us will incur a bill that will equate to a 30.00 gratuity at 20%.

Hard to beat the Tri-fecta of the YC, BC, Boardwalk area..more choices for great food in a short distance than any other Deluxe, also YC/BC boast the best pool on property with Storm along Bay..Epcot is a couple minutes walk DHS also within walking distance. Not sure you can go "wrong" with any...

Yes you can use a higher credit for a lower one..and ADR's are really really a must have if you dont want to sustain yourself on fast food, there are so many really really good places to eat that have a great ambiance dont miss out on part of what makes Disney special. Feeling overwhelmed is ok...

If the Character breakfast at 1900 Park Fare is half as good as the Dinner version Ill be ecstatic!

Tell me about it I was there when POTC opened as a kid the Line started near the jungle cruise! Those days were a race to get reservations at places like the Diamond Horseshoe Review ( I wish they would bring this back...sighs..) but yes Lines were INSANE
